Re: Apple Dumps Intel: CONFIRMED!

Losing the ability to easily run regular Windows natively on Mac hardware means that Apple failed. 10 years ago maybe. Times have changed. That being said by the time 2020 rolls around I'll probably be able to run Windows 10 for ARM x64 in a VM on my ARM based Mac. Says the guy who just called Wind...

My thoughts exactly, however considering that 2012 was mentioned, I would assume OP might have a slightly newer proc than a Phenom II x6.

Even if the SSD itself caught fire, the flames should've been contained within the computer case. Eh sorta? I mean there are holes in your case for ventilation, aesthetics, etc so it's possible that a flame happened to touch some cloth or even the carpet therefore spreading outside the case. It's d...

Re: Stupid credit card scammers

I wonder if there was a big data breach somewhere recently. When I called to report the issue, the agent said something to the effect of "Wow, what's with all the fraudulent charges today?" I'm not sure what the point of going to the chip cards was, as I'd be willing to bet that most frau...

Since Windows 8, Microsoft has included something called Windows Platform Binary Table, which allows the motherboard BIOS to silently inject an executable which is run during Windows startup. (Lenovo and others have already exploited this "feature" to automatically run installers for thei...

That FF demo from E3 this year was super annoying. I only watched the Xbox E3. If there was another demo at the SE booth then I missed it.

Im excited for the game and I really hope it doesn't let me down, but then again it is SE. Sometimes they deliver, sometimes they don't.

I respectfully disagree. It is good to have open discussion about this type of topic. The biggest issue is that some people are using the issue at hand to attack others, when that shouldn't be the main case.

Just one more reason to stop using Windows on any computer with data you consider valuable. It's an even stronger argument for having good backups. Using another OS doesn't magically make your data immune to loss or corruption. Can't second this fact enough. It's crazy how some people think changin...

An edit to my post above, I currently have 8GB (4x2GB). I wrote 4GB by mistake. Might I suggest going down to 16GB of DDR 3000 RAM to save some cash and get that CPU upgraded to a 6600k? Will the faster Ram and CPU help that much with performance? The 6500 is fine if you don't plan to OC. Upgrading...

Android phone manufacturers have been really bad at this since the start. A lot of it boils down to them moving on to the next best thing. They have too many phone models with completely different specs. Why test new software updates on all of them when you could test them on the freshest products y...

This wasn't recent (years ago actually), but I was unscrewing components in my PC while it was on and the screwdriver accidentally touched the GPU and fried it. Lucky me, I was safe. Needless to say that GPU was destroyed and costed me $400 to replace

Nah, Morphine is right... if a game sucks right out of the gate, word gets out fast and you generally see that reflected in the sales. If a significant number of buyers pre-order the game, the company already has that revenue and that takes away a lot of the pressure, both in terms of quality of th...

Your points are valid, but I disagree on the conclusion. I strongly believe that the main reason why botched launches happen is precisely because the companies know they can cut 3-6 months off of development time and get away with it... because people will be flocking to buy New Shiny 2017 regardle...

To be fair, pre-ordering games isn't the real issue here. The lack of a complete game that isn't broken on launch is. That doesn't come from pre-ordering though, that comes from unrealistic features and deadlines made my upper management and team leads. Don't think for a second I won't make it seem ...

Are you using a wired connection or wireless for your xbox one? If wired, have you connected to that router using wireless from the xbox one before? I wonder if the MAC you see is coming from the wired NIC or the wireless NIC. That of course depends on if the above scenario applies to you.
