Re: Haswell 4770k + eVGA 770 ACX build

If I can piggyback on this thread, I have the Define R4 and a cheaper version of the OP's build (GeForce 660, Rosewill Capstone 450-M Gold, Crucial 8gb, Z87-A, 4670K, 840 non-pro 250gb, 1TB WD Black). I'm in the market for another front intake fan because I need to run the R4's at 80% just to get ne...

Re: A Possible Haswell Build

I upgraded from Vista to WIndows 8, so I might have a skewed perspective, but WIndows 8 is fine, and what little I tried of 8.1 was even better.

Not sure if it's what you have in mind, but Magic the Gathering: Duels of the Planeswalkers is a pretty excellent series

Re: Help me get into Dragon Age:Origins

It was challenging yet rewarding to be a mage at the start of the game. Then you become overpowered and can solo all trash mobs and most bosses, which is fun its own way. Key skills, whose names I've forgotten: cone of cold, lightning storm + blizzard, all blood magic, mana burn, sleep

Re: Stealing a likeness?

A plaintiff must establish three elements to hold someone liable for unlawful use of name or likeness: 1. Use of a Protected Attribute: The plaintiff must show that the defendant used an aspect of his or her identity that is protected by the law. This ordinarily means a plaintiff's name or likeness,...

Re: Z87 Motherboard Choices

I've checked out [H]'s review of the cheap MSI's previous iteration, and they did not like it very much. I think I'll go with the Asus Z87-A, which they did review and highly recommend.

Well I attempted messing around with the memory to bus ratio, but no dice. Will attempt a CMOS reset next.

Re: Z87 Motherboard Choices

Any thoughts on Microcenter's CPU bundle motherboards?

The $60 MSI one looks pretty barebones...but I'm not planning to do SLI, and have no present need to overclock either.

Can't turn back the (FSB) clock

I'll finally be retiring my E8400, 9600 GT. He'll serve out the rest of his time doing light duty at a family member's house. I have a problem, however. A little while ago I upped the FSB base clock from 333 MHz (x9 = 3 GHz) to 400 MHz (x9 = 3.6 GHz). When I went into the BIOS to return things to st...

Re: Next gen gaming = AMD CPU/GPU?

I ended up pulling the trigger on the MSI 660 for $175 after rebate. Gonna head to Microcenter this weekend to (probably) get 4670K + cheapo MSI mobo bundle for $260, and most the rest of the components.

Re: Next gen gaming = AMD CPU/GPU?

Seems timely for me to revive this thread in light of http://techreport.com/news/24976/bf4-other-frostbite-3-games-to-be-optimized-exclusively-for-amd Maybe I can make do for a little while, or pick up a 7870 when one is on sale again. I'd be interested in seeing what Steamroller has in store for us.

Next gen gaming = AMD CPU/GPU?

Hi all, I'm looking to build a new PC relatively soon, but I'm a little concerned about whether to invest in AMD or Nvidia on the graphics front. I realize no one knows for sure, but will it be the case that next gen games like Battlefield 4 will be more heavily optimized for AMD? That $169 GTX 660 ...

Re: Any Long Term Lotto Players

If you play when the expected return is highest (massive powerball jackpots) and choose numbers strategically*, it can be a fun way to expose yourself to some good random chance. *Although many people randomly select numbers, others put in birthdates and anniversaries, or the numbers from Lost, so i...
