Re: Upgrade frustrations

If it only happens with one game, is that really an issue with the card? I'd take this question to Reddit or the Steam community forum before RMA. I feel you though. I got a good deal last year on a GTX 970, but the card just wouldn't work for more than a few minutes in any game. So I returned it. W...

Re: PS4 Future

They just released a new hardware revision in the PS4 Pro last year, so I can't see them doing that again for at least another year. If you want gaming and 4K Blu Ray, you will have to go with an Xbox One Scorpio. Best bet is probably just to buy a PS4 slim bundle for as cheap as possible and then j...

Re: What cases and PSUs are you guys using?

Corsair Carbide 500R that I got for about $100 and a 650w 80 plus Platinum Rosewill Tachyon psu. The PSU is actually made by Sunflower, so it's a pretty decent one despite being sold by Rosewill. Both have be serving me well for about 4 years. At this point though, I really want to shrink my case an...

Phantom Dust! Free on PC

https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/s...cdnbhr11mr Phantom Dust is a really great Xbox cult classic and it is free on the Windows Store right now. This was the game that knocked Halo 2 out of my Xbox for the first time since it released many months before. Single Player had an enjoyable story, but the 2...

Re: Core i9s and Kaby Lake X

E was always a codename designation, never a product designation. E was for HEDT markets, EP for 2 socket servers, and EX for 4 socket servers. K and X designations were always product suffixes, e.g. 7700k, 6950x. So where does the 7740K sit? Is it a Kaby Lake X processor? The original story that y...

Posted this in " Rumor: Core i9 processors will arrive for LGA 2066 in June ," but a few days late, so I didn't get a response. Hoping someone can help: Sorry, I get lost in all the naming conventions and designators. I forget what an X v. an E processor is. Just looking at what's up there...

Why not a full 5.1 setup? Just too much stuff to deal with? For well within your budget, you can get the Pioneer SP-PK52FS 5.1 system and a good 5.1 receiver and have top notch sound. I have those speakers with a Sony DN-850 and couldn't be happier with the sound when gaming or watching a good actio...

I don't know what the "best" one is. I can recommend one that I think is very solid for a reasonable price though. That may be what you mean by best. I've used a Sonicare Easy Clean for years and I love it. Only costs about $50 on sale, and you can get the brush heads for a pretty good pri...

Re: Bose Q35 - Better Options

Picked up these ATH-ANC9's about five years back on the premise that they're audiophile-grade noise-cancelling cans, and while they excel on both points, they're just a bit too small to be comfortable. I'd have paid more for the Bose, comfort matters more for travel. I have the ANC9s and am very ha...

Re: Bye, Bloomfield: First Big PC Overhaul

If you want another 7 year processor, spend the money and get the 1700X. Save the money from going a step down on the motherboard and the PSU. 750W is a lot for a system with just a 960. 600 watt gold or titanium should be just fine.

Re: Headphones on a Plane

I'd recommend the pair I have, the Audio Technica ANC9s. They can be had for about $150 or less and they work really well and still have excellent sound quality. For absolute best noise cancelling, go Bose, but the consensus is their sound quality is not very good on their noise cancelling headphones.

Re: SSD reliability

Current SSDs are pretty damn reliable, so I wouldn't worry about that. IMO, get the SSD and, if there is an additional 2.5inch drive space, install a cheap 1tb drive for extra storage. You may say you don't worry about speed, but SSDs are so crazy fast compared to spinning drives that its hard to go...

Re: Project Scorpio Specs Revealed!

The Scorpio looks legit to me and I will be very interested to see how it does with 4K gaming. Obviously a PC with those specs would not be able to get anywhere near 4K 60fps, but I actually believe MS can pull it off since devs can optimize to a very high degree for console hardware. There's a lot ...

I don't want to be mean or anything, I really want AMD to succeed here, but it seems like what we have is Intel CPUs working really well out of the box, but we'll have to wait for game devs to patch games to maximize performance on Ryzen. I actually got my tape measure out (correction, I first bought a tape measure) and measured my receiver.
