Re: [SOLVED] Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out

Definitely check it out. It works like a charm. It doesn't involve any complicate messing around with the registry as it does it for you, and the solution looks cleaner as it doesn't break compatibility with some games. Your fix was a nice work around though my graphic card still reports my monitor ...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

Bit off topic, but yeah I like Chrome. I prefer Firefox mostly because of the much broader customizations. Outlook is utterly broken, no unified inbox, messy interface, no running in the background, seriously why don't they fix this? Thunderbird is nice but it's missing some things that I really mis...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

Odd, my GTX 460 was able to go through my Pioneer receiver and then to a Panasonic plasma with no funny business. I get 1080p (almost, need to change overscan mode on the TV) no questions asked. Odd indeed. It may just be endemic to certain monitors or GPUs. Again, my TV monitor is from Viore. Thei...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

Quick Update: I was able to get my AC Brotherhood and AC Revelations working but it involved a clever work around. Whenever I try running the game, it would showing a white flashing box at the top left corner against a black backrgound. The games won't load and I can't close the game because it load...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

Sorry that the instructions in my previous post weren't terribly clear. The reason the nVidia control panel is reporting the monitor as being connected over DVI is that by editing the monitor's inf file, you're culling the extra HDMI data that would normally be sent to the TV. Some TVs only associa...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

OKay, so more bad news. I turned my rig on this morning after powering it down last night to discover that the settings had relapsed. This occurred because I was connected using the HDMI to HDMI cable instead of an HDMI to DVI. I switched after instaling the .inf file because when my rig was connect...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

Yup. Didn't do squat. After trying what Crazybus suggested, I was able to fix my issue (check previous post). Only difference is that now Nvidia shows my connection as DVI, rather than HDMI, even though I'm using an HDMI to HDMI cable. Also, it doesn't have 1080p as preset resolution, only 1080i, so...

That's not true! My samsung TV has different types of HDMI ports.

Min'es not anywhere near as sophisticated or advance as a samsung. It's an off brand (Viore) LED TV I got from walmart for 150.

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

It doesn't do anything. They would just switch HDMI ports. EDIT: So I did what Crazybus suggested in his link. It took me a while because the instructions were all over the place. I used Monitor Asset Manager to make an .inf file. I used Phoenix to extract my checksum, went into the .inf file and ch...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

It definitely looks like your TV is applying some post-processing to the image. If the TV's menus don't offer a method to disable these "features", you may have to edit the monitor EDID data to get it to display properly. See this post for more info. Here's a screenshot of my BIOS with th...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

Bad cable is a distinct possibility. I have two cables, one HDMI to HDMI and another HDMI to DVI. The latter, I previously connected to a DVI to mini DisplayPort adapter to hook it up to my Macbook Pro and do HDMI out to my HDTV. I know for a fact that the HDMI to DVI cable is perfectly fine since i...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

My HDTV is just a cheap off brand TV I bought last winter. It does HDMI, Xbox 360, and TV well but it doesn't have the advance features to switch to PC input. It just takes what ever signal comes. My question here is why does my Macbook Pro's HDMI 1080p output looks better than my supposedly superio...

Re: Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out [Visual Quality very bad]

I don't quite understand your question. The 670 doesn't come with monitor drivers. It has one GPU driver that you download from the EVGA page ( http://www.evga.com/support/download/default.aspx ). My monitor is an LED 1080p TV that you just plug and play. My television is calibrated independently of...

[SOLVED] Issue regarding HDMI/DVI Out

Okay, so recently I built a high end rig. For those who are curious, my original post was here: http://techreport.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=33&t=84708&p=1143785#p1143785 . Anyways, I am doing HDMI out using an HDMI port on my EVGA Geforce GTX 670 FTW to my LED 1080p Viore TV monitor. Now th...

Problems renaming drives in Windows

I have been getting some issues with that. Initially, I installed my OS on the SSD. When I loaded up Windows, my 1TB HDD didn't show up. Eventually, I learned that I need to format it using DIsk Management. However, I loaded it as a B drive. Apparently, when I tried to install Diablo 3, it wouldn't ...

Re: $1100 High End Build

Thanks for your reply. I finally figured out what was going on. I have an DVI to HDMI cable. On my GPU, there were two DVI ports, DVI-I and DVI-D. I plugged my connector into DVI-I assuming that since it supported analog and digital, I wouldn't have any issue. What followed was washed out colors, bl...

Re: $1100 High End Build

I need to calibrate the monitor. I didn't think it was needed since the settings for my tv should be stored locally. Going to a new computer reset all my settings. In essence, staring at the screen hurts my eyes. Everything is too high contrast or too.

Re: $1100 High End Build

Doubt the mobo let's you use the CPU's onboard GPU (i.e. HD4000) while a dedicated card is plugged in. i.e. there is ZERO reason to install that VGA_64 driver. Just go to nvidia.com and install their drivers for the 670. Default resolution when you build a PC is usually bottom of the barrel... so i...

Re: $1100 High End Build

Okay, so my build is done. Thus far, it seems like everything is operating as it should. I've successfully put the computer together, everything lit up with any burning or fire and I was able to install Windows 7 without issue. However, there was one minor problem...I couldn't get HDMI or DVI out fr...

Re: $1100 High End Build

Thanks for your reply. I really appreciate someone taking their time to write a carefully crafted response. My beef with AMD is usually mild. I don't really like their drivers as they've crashed on me in the past. Things may have changed now but I feel safer and more comfortable sticking with Nvidia...

Re: $1100 High End Build

If you're interested in even one of those games, I think the Radeon may be the way to go. The more out of that bundle you really do want to play, the better it is for you. The 7950 is a fast card - way better than the 500 series card you initially picked, and also faster than a vanilla GTX 660. The...

What about the Sapphire Radeon HD 7950? It's cheaper and if I buy it off Newegg, I get 3 free games.

$1100 High End Build

Hello, I'm new here. I am planning on building a gaming rig sometime between now and before Christmas, to take advantage of the holiday sales on components. My basic goal for making a gaming rig is to primarily play games as well as a general purpose rig for video editing (nothing intensive) and pos...
