Re: From 8800GT to GTX650Ti(1GB)

Just an update on the status since I got the card: I got Metro 2033: Last Light to go from 3 FPS (old card) to about 25 FPS (650 Ti Boost) on Very High settings and at 1920 x 1080 resolution. Also PhysX is turned on (the GPU takes care of it). I do see some CPU bound effects, that is, it is running ...

Re: From 8800GT to GTX650Ti(1GB)

I updated to the plot (see above post) to include current prices (read edit note for more details). Yeah I know the plot is even more irrelevant for my case because my CPU is bottle necking. But it was amusing to do. :p Unfortunately there's no try before you buy but I am quite set on the 650 Ti Boo...

Re: From 8800GT to GTX650Ti(1GB)

wow, thanks for the many replies! I agree with, as many have pointed out, that my CPU is very old. I just can't get myself to buy a CPU+Motherboard+RAM combo - especially considering I bought extra RAM earlier this year, also thanks to you guys :) . Luckily, Chrispy_ mentioned getting a multi-core C...

From 8800GT to GTX650Ti(1GB)

Hello, I am considering doing an upgrade to the graphics card of my computer. My GeForce 8000GT has served me well for a few years but at last some games are having issues running smoothly. For example, Metro Last Light at lowest setting (resolution is 1080p though) is still unplayable. Mechwarrior ...

Re: Advice: GA-EP35-DS3L RAM

thank you, that helps! :) PS. which one of these would you recommend? They appear to be almost the same but one is cheaper and the other one has nicer looking heatsinks (Corsair) and has exactly the same timings as my Muskin. CORSAIR XMS2 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 : http://www.newegg...

Advice: GA-EP35-DS3L RAM

Dear Tech Report Community, I am considering to purchase extra RAM for my Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3 motherboard. Currently I have two 1024 MB PC2-6400 DDR2-SDRAM Muskin 991533 (996533) already installed. One is in slot 0 and the other is in slot 2. I am pretty sure it's dual-channel. I hope to purchase m...
