Re: Anyone repair anything today?

The keypad on my older Craftsman garage door opener stopped working. I opened up the battery compartment and the 9V battery was corroded, mushy at the top. In my effort to remove the battery the wires came off the connector. I bought a 10 pack of 9V connectors for around $3. Spliced one on and it wo...

TR Blocked on Base

I work on an Air Force base. They just blocked TR with their Great Firewall and classified the site as 'Games'. At first I got a TSL error but after clearing my cache it shows blocked. Real bummer. I like to read the site during my lunch break. Now I'd have to leave the building and get on my phone.

Re: What's a good vacuum?

I bought Hoover Platinum Collection Lightweight Bagged Upright Vacuum a few years ago. Upright doesn't have a hose, instead it comes with a small canister that you sling over your shoulder. Terrible on hard floors but why people use vacuums on hard floors is beyond me. Best carpet vacuum I've ever u...

Re: Bedbugs FTL

Stayed in a Holiday Inn near Disney, noticed them before we left. I can't tell you how to solve all your problem. I will suggest that anything that can be put in the dryer without damaging it should be put there. If you live in an area where it's still sunny and warm, black trash bag things and leav...

Re: Too new to be a classic

Lost Odyssey for 360. Outstanding story. Main character isn't an Emo, sissy like many RPG's on the market anymore.

Re: Minecraft

I had some issues yesterday on Glorious server. Crossing the bridge to the trading post near the castle made me lag bad enough it was like stop motion. When I apprroached from other directions I didn't have any issues. I may have been the first one there and loading all of the castle I suppose. P.S....

Bing's auto-translate makes that thread somewhat entertaining.

You can't combine the promo code with the rebate.

Re: Microsoft Security Essentials

I run Kaspersky at my job, and I've been installing Bitdefender over MSE and Avira lately. Kaspersky has been good, but it can be a little aggressive. Bitdefender is rated as one of the better AV packages at the moment. AV Comparatives rates Kaspersky 99% effective with no false positives IIRC. Bit...

I think if you Sandbox your browser you'll be fine with virtually any AV.

Re: The Value Prospect of Sli/Crossfire Today...

There are a lot of benchmarks out there that support what you are saying. Even in 1080p, often considered low resolution in PC gaming, which many dismiss for xfire. Interestingly I found a 7850/7870 xfire match benchmark. Frame pacing/latency is not address however. http://www.techbuyersguru.com/Fra...

Re: Does a Strong AMD Really Drive Prices Lower?

If a Corvette uses a Keisler Transmission we don't calculate Kiesler's revenue by using Corvette sale's revenue. Using the money Apple makes off the iPhone to represent what ARM makes is completely incorrect. You would have to know the licensing agreement between them. Or you can simply follow the r...

Re: 939 -> AM3+ upgrade complete!

I'm actually still rocking my 939 Operation (too many kids to afford an upgrade!). I do however use Windows 7 64-Bit. I actually used Rosewill RNX-N180PCe and I had a similar problem. Also it was slow. I paired my SMC router with a USB SMC Wireless N and get about 270 Mbps. My router and adapter are...
