Since it's not my money, feel free to purchase that GTX 1060 for $599, you know it has to be better than that GTX 1080 for $519...

Doom at 1440p with a 1060? I'd think you'd have to lower the eye candy quite a bit... You might want to rethink that: http://techreport.com/review_full/30812/nvidia-geforce-gtx-1060-graphics-card-reviewed 2560x1440 at Ultra details. Re: National Drink Beer day?

Didn't know it was beer day yesterday, but I did have some Terrapin Luau Krunkles. It's a Guava, Passion, Orange IPA. Not bad. Awhile back I did a job in the 21st Amendment brewery and they had an IPA called "Blah, Blah, Blah". The can says it all... https://i.pinimg.com/236x/a4/90/af/a49...

Re: Would it make sense to replace a GTX 560 Ti with GT 1030?

What is your system specs, games you play and monitor resolution? Without knowing that my advice is always to buy the best GPU you can afford. Sure, you only play older games and don't need the power. But, what if something comes along that you want to play and you need more umph... Why limit yourse...

Re: National Drink Beer day?

I had some Space Dust IPA by the Elysian brewing company... While playing Elite dangerous no less! That is an exceedingly tasty IPA. I had some Dogfish Head World Wide Stout this week - the local Smith's (Kroger) had it on tap, so I brought home a growler. Damn good stuff! MMMMMNMMNN... Stout, woul...

Newegg has a sale on Vega 64

For only $719 on the non-water cooled version... Glad it's on sale. https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product. ... gnorebbr=1
The GTX 1080 I've been eyeing has gone up $10, so much for driving down the green team pricing.

Re: Which upgrade for more FPS, from an i5-3570K GTX 970

I had a very similar setup with the GTX 970 and I5-3570k processor. I ran into problems with Battlefield 1 stuttering and terrible frame rates. All four cores were fully utilized and the GPU was loafing. I overclocked it a bit and that helped some. I ended up with an issue with my motherboard's bios...

Re: G-Sync Impressions

Bit of a necro but... I've been using a G-Sync 144hz monitor for over a year and I love it. In BF4 it helped me increase my KDR by about .25%. The clarity of the image was a big factor and running +100 fps was really smooth. I don't play FPS shooters as much any more so I would love to step up to a ...

Re: Goodbye Vega 56 at MSRP

As someone who managed to snag a Vega 64 AC on launch day for just £450 avoid it like the plague. The card and drivers are horrendous and forget the 750w PSU it won't do the business. RTG needs to hang their heads in shame after releasing this garbage. Disappointed doesn't even come close and I onl...

Heh... I live in Alabama, we don have no steenkin basements!

I have used the power line adapters before and they worked well, while they lasted... Maybe 8 -10 months. I can route a cable thru the attic but that might have to wait until it cools down a bit. And I still have to buy a Ethernet unit.

It's a great way to get a bunch of write cycles on your SSD. :P Not only that, but sleep and hibernate don't play nice with drivers and programs. Blah. Are you still able to cancel the order? There's no perceptible difference until you hit the 6141's top speed (which is 343mbps), so you'd have to be paying for some top-tier service to see the benefit. There could be any number of things messing with your wireless signal, and changing routers...

Course, upgrading to Win10 means you also get to enjoy forced automatic restarts - and for some reason my computer will wake from hibernation the middle of the night to look for windows updates. That's fun. Both my laptop and desktop are Win10 and I've never had that issue. But then, I rarely use h...

My issues as well... I about fell of my chair when I saw several GTX 1060's going for $440+ and a few 1070's going near $600 while you can pick up a GTX180 for around $550 all day long. But I don't think I will get a new screen right now. I have re-arranged my office so I can use my 2, 1080p monitor...

Re: 4K monitor

The smaller 4K monitors bother my eyes, everything is too small. The appealing thing about the 4K 42 inch monitor is the fact that I will get 4 screens the size of my laptop monitor. But the 35 inch 1440p monitors fall into that realm as well as I really need a good side by side comparison for the p...

I was considering that as well... I can get a non G-Sync gaming monitor for about the same price. And my GTX 970 could drive a 1440p monitor much easier. Now if I could just get the wife to agree to a monitor and a GTX 1080... 8)

4K monitor

Lately I've been musing about stepping up to a 4K monitor. The driving impetus is not (surprisingly so) gaming. With a GTX 970 on my gaming computer I doubt I will be playing anything on that. Maybe Elite Dangerous but not much else. I work from a Dell Precision M4800 laptop with a 15.9 inch 1080p m...
