Re: CaseLabs Bankrupt and Forced to Close Down

1- As to the issue of the true cause of CaseLabs's failure, I have come to the conclusion that it is impossible to come to a falsifiable conclusion. There is simply not enough evidence, short of breaking into their offices and stealing their books, I fail to see how. So I simply withhold my opinion ...

Re: CaseLabs Bankrupt and Forced to Close Down

It's not the Trustee, it's the secured creditors. Someone has to have a lien on their inventory (which also includes the products and proceeds thereof) and that creditor wants maximum recovery. I don't know the details of the procedure in the US, but I assume the general principle is the same: the ...

Re: CaseLabs Bankrupt and Forced to Close Down

Thank you for the effort. Sometimes it is hard to find the info. Have you ever read a bankruptcy petition? It is not going to tell you what you are interested in, AT ALL. If you want to see who counter-signed against perjury, a bunch of administrative checkboxes, a list of their creditors contact i...

I am not trying to defend or say what was the true reason for this company to fail, but at least wait until the postpartum examination by the coroner before we speculate. Completely off-topic, but this made me chuckle. Especially the "postpartum" bit. I guess CaseLabs is about to give bir...

Re: CaseLabs Bankrupt and Forced to Close Down

You've nailed it. A strong well-run business doesn't go out of business because of a small disruption. 1- An unexpected 20% or double percentage rise in the cost of your raw products is not a "small disruption". You essentially has to pass those costs to the customers. That means at the b...

1- It is really hard to parse any meaningful information on the main true "smoking gun" cause of this particular company's failure with the limited information. 2- The fact that the company decided to file for chapter 7 straight-away with no consideration for a chapter 11 filing may be inf...

Re: Good time to build?

RAM prices are still stupid. RAM is the primary reason I haven't built a Ryzen system yet. (Not that I really need a new system... my use case is fairly undemanding, and the FX-8350 I've been running still does everything I need.) 1- I think we need a new breed of mean abacuses to put some fear int...

I haven't owned a desktop in about 10 years, and thought it would be fun to build one again. There is no rush. I was thinking of doing a AM4 mini-ITX build, but is it a good time to be buying parts or should I wait a little longer? 1- Like some others have said, I think you need to ask what are you...

My technical knowledge goes beyond me but I think a more cautious approach of slowly iterating with improving tech is better than just trying to fly before you run. Maybe this should be a split into R&P but I’d be interested in the age of suiciders in that study. My uneducated opinion is that people aren’t told to suck it up or get over it as much at a young age and so find more of their life unbearable. I take issue with this generalization. Suggesting th...

Apparently, the cause of death is suicide. It seems we all have our inner demons; be kind to others for we don't know what theirs are. There are resources if you or a loved one feels like you though of suicide.

As far as MoviePass goes, from what I've read, their business model is profit oriented for the long term They are losing money and going bankrupt. Their filings literally says their business model is "highly uncertain" for the rest of this year. https://www.sec.gov/Archives/edgar/data/104...
