Re: AMD withdrawing fury samples unless favorable?

The guy was fairly right about things in this video. If I'd seen that a month ago I wouldn't have believed R290 would become 390 etc. Still hurts thinking about it. Actually watching further this guy can read the future or something! "I am certain Fiji won't be faster than GTX980." "...

Re: AMD withdrawing fury samples unless favorable?

I was following the story as well and I was in the Overclock.net thread where it was discussed at length.

I think this video had something to do with the "negative stance towards AMD products" excuse that was given to Kitguru.

Re: Super low budget... Older i5\Xeon Quad or newer Pentium?

Swapping that all out for a Core i5-2400 or similar, or even an i3-3250, will give you boosts to performance and power efficiency (and give you the option for ITX chassis). Dual-processor setups are very niche and if you ever intend to turn your HTPC into a Steambox as well, there will be games that...

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

I'm already on the fence about getting a 7850/7870 from my 6870 (because I know the 8xxx are coming and it's not a huge jump) . It's bad enough my 6870 is a 5850 and I didn't even realize that until recently. The HD6000 series doesn't receive any real driver performance improvements because GCN is ...

Re: Anyone see this? Full Radeon 8xxx specs?

Nvidia's OEM 700-series, at least for the mobile chips available right now, does exactly the same thing. Both brands have been doing this for years.

Re: Overclocking non-K Intel CPUs?

You're correct, except for two things: 1) B75 boards likewise cannot raise the default multiplier to max Turbo. 2) You can lock the turbo setting to max so that Intel Speedstep ramps straight up to the highest clock speed without any intermediate clocks to assess TDPs before going higher. You can di...

Re: Mini-ITX case market driving me insane, advice pls

I've really only skimmed this thread but I'm quite impressed with the Coolermaster Elite 120 . It has great 120mm fan cooling, no expansion card or PSU issues and it comes with front USB3/Audio/5.25" bay. It's also well-made for the price and the styling is tastefully understated, unlike so mu...
