Re: Something's different...

What this new front page tells me is that community is no longer a valued part of what Tech Report is about. Well, the owners of course are free to do as they choose, but the express reason for my bookmark here was all the user comments and the ease of finding the good ones. With that gone, to me it...

Re: Something's different... (new)

My Firefox on windows browser won't connect to the site due to "too many redirects." It does have some privacy configs that maybe come into play, but I don't have this issue with any other site I know of. Chrome is working but when I use my regular home IP it tells me that my IP address ha...

Re: Summon window to current monitor?

Thanks! Using the shift key does make it a little faster/easier. One issue with my particular set up (multiple monitors, all but the primary of which may be performing non-pc functions or turned off) is that I don't always know which direction the window needs to move in to get to me.

Summon window to current monitor?

My win 10 taskbar shows thumbnails for each opened window. Is there an easy way I could simply point to a thumbnail to summon that window to the current monitor (the one I'm looking at the thumbnail in?) I know about Win + arrow, which can be very helpful when it works, but also seems to have many &...

Re: Why I will downgrade my broadband.

Regulatory waaah? You mean the natural and utterly inevitable network effect ? I think this may be the root of why we view these companies and this situation so differently. I was not talking about the "network effect." I was talking about the permit decisions made decades ago on a commun...

Re: Why I will downgrade my broadband.

Glorius, if you want to take some academic stand that says for theoretical purity Netflix ought to offer to attempt to deliver a higher bandwidth stream to all customers even despite knowing there is little chance that stream will arrive without the accompanying infrastructure they are offering at n...

Re: Why I will downgrade my broadband.

Is that chart mislabeled or am I missing something? Those speeds seem VERY slow if it's indeed megaBITS per second being measured. I have Comcast cable and can download at 3 MegaBYTES per second nonstop for hours, which is about 15x the speed that chart shows. I know plans and speeds can vary from ...

Re: Why I will downgrade my broadband.

In addition to the many other posts here debunking the "netflix users cost cable companies too much" argument, there's also the fact that Netflix has a program to provide ISPs such as Comcast with free storage appliances that can cache/host the Netflix content within the ISP's network, thu...

Re: Apple openly insults its customers

Since when is not being an expert the same as being "inept"? Expertise implies an uncommon level of mastery not easily acquired. For any given subject the majority of people will not be an expert in it. To suggest that most of the customers of a mass market product will not be an expert in...
