Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

What does "a while" mean? A couple weeks? A couple months? Next year? Obviously using the 4570 to stream PS3/360 games is doing what it was meant for (game streaming). But the 4570 is an awful capable gaming CPU in its own right that I'd be tempted to stick a graphics card in it to enjoy ...

Yep, but I like the look. It's still small enough to carry around, and I didn't want a boring little box of a case.

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

Finally worked out what I wanted for a streaming/capture build. Updated first post with what I've settled on except for a PSU and CPU heatsink. Need help finding proper options for those two areas, using the integrated graphics of the 4570 and I'm not overclocking so the PSU and heatsink don't need ...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

Interesting to know you're going with a capture PC too. Sounds good to me. Your opening post only lists one build though? I haven't really made a list for the capture PC yet. The gist of it is in my head. My main build is saved in a .txt file but I keep tinkering with that too and I don't want to p...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

There are three issues: it's too slow, its latency is too high and it costs too much. Really? Those points are rather subjective don't you think? Other than the undeniable specs of the two products who's to say the Kingston HyperX is too slow for my needs? Is the latency really too high? Rhetorical...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

The Kingston HyperX Black memory that you selected is PC3-12800. I linked to PC3-14900 memory. At 933 MHz vs. 800 MHz, the one that I recommended has 16.7% faster throughput. The Kingston memory that you selected has CAS 10 latency. I linked to memory with CAS 9 latency. Coupled with the clock spee...

Is there anything particular reason why you suggest G.Skill over Kingston HyperX?

How does the discontinued Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium compare to the new Sound Blaster Z sound cards? Do you have SSD, hard-drive, Blu-ray burner and card reader already picked out? Ehhh!? The X-fi Titanium HD is discontinued? No mention of that on Newegg's store. Simply currently out of stock, did...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

To be clear: You're wanting to build a stand-alone PC that does nothing but capture, encode and upload your stream? For that purpose, Haswell's integrated HD 4600 graphics should be fine. I'm not a big fan of Mini-ITX. Micro-ATX gives you 4 PCIe slots instead of 1. Correct. I would use the capture ...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

So I'm looking at building a dedicated streaming PC once again and I'm exploring the possibility of using a mini-ITX mobo paired with an i5-4570. After some research I've found that the 4570 uses Intel HD 4600 onboard graphics, which is roughly equivalent to a Geforce GT 440. My question is will thi...

Shouldn't be close for audio- but that does depend on what you're listening through, which can be more important. The real question for headphones lies in the quality of the amplifier, along with circuit isolation; the software can also make a big difference depending on the game or application tha...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

Haswell compatibility aside, would this motherboard http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130686 with it's onboard Sound Blaster Cinema audio offer similar sound quality to a Sound Blaster or Asus Xonar sound card? Whilst I can appreciate that a hex core or AMD 8-'core' option will be better for a single-PC gaming & streaming solution, it's hard to ignore that the Sandy Bridge-E and it's socket 2011 platform are from 2011. Buying tech that old, this close to Haswell's lauch seems like shooting your own fo...

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

I don't know why you would need both the USB capture device and a PCIe capture card. The only personal experience I've had with a capture device was an AverMedia Game Capture HD which was a huge pain to use. Tons of issues getting it to start/stop recording and it would just lock up. The AverMedia ...

My internet shouldn't be a problem. Most recent Speedtest.net results = 35.32 down 10.12 up. To my understanding you need around a steady 5 upload for a quality stream.

Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

Is there any particular reason that you would choose this sound card over one from Creative Labs? The Creative Sound Blaster Audigy SE 7.1 card looks like a good alternative to the ASUS Xonar DX 7.1. The feedback is generally the same for both. I may just go with the Sound Blaster, it's $50 cheaper.

Unless you really NEED more than four cores or more than 32 GiB of memory, LGA2011 Sandy Bridge-E doesn't offer much over LGA1155 (or LGA1150 a month from today) except to drain your wallet. Re: First Time Builder-Requesting Assistance

I would also suggest you don't need to buy an 840Pro - It's probably too small to dump raw frame data to (an hour of 1080p60 is 900GB). If you're not dumping frame data to it, the extra write speed of the Pro is largely wasted on a consumer desktop workload. Save your money or get a larger capacity...
