Graphics card suggestions

So i've been wanting to buy a new graphics card for about a month now, but i keep going back and forth between either the radeon r9 280x or the gtx 770. i see both pros and cons in each but i just dont know which one would be better for me. I play games a lot, rarely record (so shadowplay may come i...

would your friend be interested in overclocking?... if yes make sure it's a "K" series cpu, if no then just grab the less spendy i5 model.

I will probably go with the non-k i5 cuz i dont think he could even figure out hypethreading...but thats why im helping him build it lol

Re: Intel vs AMD

The FX-8350 is destroyed by a quad 3770K when encoding/gaming. Yes, for gaming the i5-2400 is indeed a better choice at the $200 price point. If the primary use wasn't gaming, then the picture would be less clear since the FX-8350 beats the i5-2400 at non-gaming tasks... Yea i originally intended t...

Re: Intel vs AMD

~$120 saved on the CPU would go toward the GPU. i7-3770 + GTX-660 ti / 290 + 250 or FX-8350 + GTX-770 / 180 + 380 That leave you about ~180 for MB+Ram . $70 for 8GB and $110 for a MB The Fx-8350 would be better at gaming, unless the goal is to play Startcraft at 1024x768 ... I had another post abou...

Re: Crossfire, or not to crossfire...

Before this turns into an argument, I'd just like to point out that two 7790's (as low as $100 with MIR) are about the same price as one 7950 (as low as $200 with MIR). The 7950 beats two 7790's hands down. Even the deluded "budget-Crossfire" lovers can't argue with that. This is the exac...

Re: Intel vs AMD

But it's not the cooling of the CPU... it's the cooling of the room he's worried about, and I would be too! this just proves you don't own what you are condemning, before you make this comment again put it in context, 220watts is 2 incandescent lightbulbs.... is your computer room so bad that you c...

Intel vs AMD

I'm helping my buddy out with a new build and i was wondering, since he has the money should he go with an intel over amd? the computer will mainly be for gaming and he already has the AMD-8350 in mind.

Crossfire, or not to crossfire...

So a friend and i are both thinking of upgrading our graphics cards soon here, and from our conversion i was unable to answer, what would be better gaming performance-wise. 2 HD 7790 1gb's or just one 7870 2gb?

Re: need help with my wireless internet

first thing to do is to eliminate the wifi as a problem... connect your machine with a cable and rerun the speedtest second thing is to try to eliminate the router but connecting direct to the modem (you might have to setup pppoe, it depends how your isp works) I suspect the most likely problem is ...

Re: Any way to limit a programs CPU usage?

my cpu usage is at 2% but my temps will jump back and forth constantly between 23-35 C So i just installed MAD Overdrive to look at my speeds and voltages, ironically my speeds were targeted at 3500 MHz, but my current was at 3750. I lowered my voltage just one notch and now my current speed are at...

Re: Any way to limit a programs CPU usage?

Awesome responses, So i checked my heasink and im pretty sure its the coolermaster 212 evo. when i just reinstalled it, i was a little generous with the amount of thermal paste so im sure i have enough in there. ill look around to check up on the voltage, in relation to gigabyte motherboards, and po...

Re: Any way to limit a programs CPU usage?

Perhaps the heatsink needs a reseating, or just need the thermal goop re-applied? I just installed it yesterday, and i was thinking my heatsink was the problem, im going to try and buy a liquid cooling system later down the road. and i was using windows movie make to save a movie in high definition...

Any way to limit a programs CPU usage?

the title says it. I just bought the AMD FX-8320, and i tried rendering a video, it got incredibly high temperatures from the high usage (above 80 degrees C). However, my computer shutdown after about 15-20 minutes after starting the render due to the very high temps/usage. So i was wondering if the...

Razer Comms

I've had this software for quite a while now, but I've never actually used it since none of my friends are willing to get it. Anyone here use it? How does it compare to programs like Skype, TS3, Ventrillo, or the old xFire?

Re: Suggestions for new build

I really, really don't recommend a Chromebook unless you plan on ditching ChromeOS for a real operating system... A lot of people already have a monitor, KB/Mouse, case/PSU and functional version of Windows Firstly, yea i dont plan on buying a laptop or OEM tower, this is supposed to be a tower for...

Re: Suggestions for new build

I would suggest is to not get that Asus DVD burner (choose a different brand/model) thank for the suggestion, i also thought about upgrading the CPU to the 5600k? (i cant remember the exact model off the top of my head) its was only $4-5 more. that cd drive i just threw in the mix just 'cause i nee...

Suggestions for new build

So one of my friends came up to me and asked me if i could throw together a build for a new just day-today computer (so its not really a gaming systems) for around $400. I already have a list of parts, i was just wondering what i should switch out or replace. My build: Case- ZALMAN ZM-T2 Black Steel...
