Re: Help with System Guide: Sept 2017 Work and Play

If you had three PCIe M.2 SSDs, you would want to use all three ports on the motherboard. Otherwise, there may be some fine points of resource sharing that make one of the ports a better choice than the others when you have just one drive. Fair enough. :D I just wonder what would be these finer poi...

Just a quick tip. I think TR's build guide video (at the bottom of the first page) can be very helpful for lesser experienced builders. Worth a watch if you haven't already.

Yes, watched the video again. Outdated but still very valuable for inexperienced builders like me. Thank you!

Re: Help with System Guide: Sept 2017 Work and Play

OK, so can I say that P, M and Q in full socket descriptions M2P_32G M2M_32G M2Q_32G are just indicators to distinguish between different sockets locations on mobo? Yes. Note on page 36 that these share PCIe lanes with SATA controllers on the motherboard. If you install your PCIe SSD in slot M2Q_32...

I installed https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=9SIA12K54C9643 as mobo manual said: M2P_32G/M2M_32G (Note)/M2Q_32G(M.2 Socket 3 Connectors) The M.2 connectors support M.2 SATA SSDs or M.2 PCIe SSDs and support RAID configuration. Re: Help with System Guide: Sept 2017 Work and Play

There are quite a few wrong ways to avoid: If your heatsink comes with a protective plastic sheet over the thermal interface material, you are probably supposed to peel off the sheet before placing the cooler on your processor. If you have a floppy power connector, don't attach it to a 4-pin fan co...

I don't mean to be crude, but... RTFM? I usually read it front to back after drooling over new hardware but before I actually install it. That was cold. Nah... just a personal preference. I have noticed that last system build was from May 2017.
Are we going to have new ones coming?

Hello again, My new findings. I have two flash(pen) drives ( do not remember the name now, at work) and. One is shown in both USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 but the other one ONLY in USB 2.0. Is that because they are flash drives and have the software built in? Is there any way to "reformat" them so ...

Did you partition and format the other drives? Yes, just found that I need to go to Device manager, assigned letters and formatted. Both SSDs and HDD are showing now. Hi Pete, I am not sure what else is taking a space there and I know I could have second instance of X-Plane on SSD but heard that is is better not to have it filled more than 60-75% to keep the performance.

There are two networks I fly on Pilot Edge and VATSIM, they need different setup as far as the plugins go so it is much easier to have two separate instances. Cheers, AJ

That is what I did. I installed only one instance of X-Plane on SSD. In the future, I am sure they will get a higher capacity and cheaper ones so I can put both instances on it.

Thank you for the reply.
