When your in the Gui try hiting CTRL+ESC. Otherwise in a shell you can type "top" without quotes. After you run top you can press "h" to view help which will give you more display for the screen or press "k" and then enter the PID to kill a process.

Trying to decipher your message, all I can tell you is that for an AMD chipset you will need to get some updates (VIA 4-1's) for it to work optimaly in some 3D Apps

It really doesn't matter when you flash your bios, but before is a good idea since many problems that might have come up could be fixed from the bios update. You should not have to defrag after you install since the files are not that fragmented, but if you do, it should be quick.

There is no performance difference between Retail and OEM, they are the same chip. If anything, they oem would be better since you can buy your own high performance heat sink and keep it cooler.

It shouldn't affect your latency since it should be around 11Mbps or 1.1 MB/Sec. That's much higher than any internet connection you may have. Although with distance the wireless network degrades. Here's some specs on a netgear card http://www.netgear.com/product_view.asp?xrp=11&yrp=30&zrp=9...
