Re: full FX 6300 review including overclocking... anyone?

I'm not centric to the FX 6350, the problem was I couldn't find a full review of either cpu, I suspect (could be wrong) that the TDP ratings for both cpu's were more a result of stock clock rates than the nature of the chip itself given they are almost identical. with this in mind a 6300 or a 6350 ...

Re: full FX 6300 review including overclocking... anyone?

The FX 6350 is still a 125 watt cpu at the end of the day. Why compare that to a 8350. It's a hot cpu too! OP. Your much better off getting a 6300 @ 95w and overclock it. Less heat at higher clocks, and multitasks just fine. Secondly, its 20 dollars less than a 6350. Take that savings and invest in ...

Re: Help with CPU choice

Excellent monitor choice for gaming, you will be amazed by the high refresh rate, it's something that has to be seen to be believed. Been 120hz for a year or so and would never go back. I have been looking to upgrade my monitor for the last year. I'm always setting a budget for pc parts. After this...

Re: Help with CPU choice

If a significant overclock for Haswell is the goal here, then wouldn't uncapping the IHS so you can replace the TIM be more important then going with water and stuff? The two methods for achieving this would not be fun. The razor blade or a vice. I heard deliding is mostly for overclocking enthusia...

Re: Help with CPU choice

A second rad couldn't hurt to include the GPUs in the loop. You might be able to pull it off with just 1 240mm rad but it would be for the best to have 2. When I had the i5 750 and GTX 295 in the same loop, I had 1 240mm modded into the front intake of an Antec 900 with another 120mm rad on my rear...

Re: Help with CPU choice

I would go with the XSPC option rather than the AIO system. For one, it's cheaper, and secondly, it's a higher-quality cooling system. Plus, you can throw a couple of waterblocks on your 760's and have a reallllly nice full-water system. My last rig had an i5 750 on water with a 2PCB GTX 295 on wat...

Re: Help with CPU choice

I would go by the GPU's TDP or actual power consumption numbers instead of the "recommendation" (since Nvidia/AMD has to account for lower quality units). The GTX 780 is 265W with boost, and most GPU power draw these days are on the 12V. So 265/12 = 22amps. Add the fan, RAM, and other ele...

Re: Help with CPU choice

I googled the 770 and saw that 42 amps on the 12 volt rail. I just cannot believe at 100% load the video card alone could pull 42 amps I am almost positive that is for the whole system considering a corsair tx650v2's 12 volt rail goes up to 53 amps and has 2 6+2pin pin PCIE connectors and could eas...

Re: Help with CPU choice

Buying a separate NIC is foolish and wasteful. It's not going to work any better than the Intel I217-V on a motherboard with the Lynx Point chipset. You're just not going to build a single-GPU gaming system with a Haswell processor that needs a 1200 watt power supply. Even with a power-hungry Sandy...

Re: Help with CPU choice

I have always used separate sound and nic card option to put less stress on the motherboard. ??? There are legitimate reasons to use discrete NIC and audio, but "less stress on the motherboard" isn't one of them. Your probably correct, but I have always went that route, so I dont plan on ...

Re: Help with CPU choice

To the OP, If you think a Intel or 8350 cpu upgrade is going to change your frame latencies I think you are going to be dissapointed. I would first upgrade your GPU to a 770 with its 256 memory bus and high memory bandwidth, you would be jumping up over the 660 ti, 670, 680, to the 770 that is a 68...

Re: Help with CPU choice

For my purpose an i5 should get the job done.I really wanted to make amends. Even though I listed the Azza Genesis 9000. I still have that in the cart on Amazon I have the rest of those parts.I was going to use that case for water cooling, but a good air cooler wins out over a AIO water loop. Here is...

Your so quick to point out why AMD does not offer good value, but it wins according to tests done by Tek Syndicate. These guys use Intel at home and at work, but let results speak for themselves, unlike the bias people commenting on this thread. Benchmarks are meaningless. All data are meaningless to the fanatic. Sane people believe in facts. http://techreport.com/review/24954/amd-a10-6800k-and-a10-6700-richland-apus-reviewed/7 That's very convenient to take my words out of context. As I stated, " The general rule is 30 fps is the max...

I have been a AMD fan for years. The price performance ratio is always a good value. You mean, "was" good value. That's almost entirely gone now, to everyone's sadness. AMD = Great Value . Go asked anyone in Europe what prices are for amd vs Intel. Its savings in the US, but even more abro...

Re: Help with CPU choice

NOT a SINGLE FX processor is designed to run with all cores on, and in WFO mode for any length of time, and yet we adjust the FX processor to run just that way and call it merely overclocking. It is far away from just a plain overspeeding of the cpu, it is hammering the cpu and circuits with ALL co...
