Ohhhh.... please keep us updated on the build of the workstation. I'm curious to hear how that goes because I'm seriously contemplating building out something similar (not that particular Supermicro board, but one of their X11 mATX ones).

Just for kicks, I wonder if a symlink would work? Since you don't want to rename the file... reference it with a symlink.

Re: Book and photo printing services

I've had one photo book printed through MPix and thought that the quality was nice. I've never had Shutterfly make a photobook but I'd be wary of it just because I've had cards printed by them in the past and they love to leave a section of their card just for their logo. To me, that's a bit tacky, ...

Re: What is a good beginning Mac?

I don't understand this question. Beginner Mac? The OS is the same between the different Macs, so the hardware is the only deciding factor. At that point then it's just a question of need. Figure that out and you have your answer.

Re: Your motherboard that had the most CPU upgrades

I've never upgraded a CPU on a motherboard. I hold onto computers for so long that by the time I'm itching for a new CPU, I'm just building a whole new computer. My current computer is 7 years old. The one before that lasted me 10-11 years - I forget. And before those? I don't even remember. Althoug...

Sounds like Nikon might be the way to go at the beginning. Once I get comfy taking photos again, I can start considering the Canons. Re: Need some advice for picking up a pedal bike this summer

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about the difficulty of swapping out the rear wheel. Take the wheel out and put it back in a few times and you'll get a hang of it. Just make sure you put the chain on the smallest cog in the rear and smallest sprocket in the front before you attempt to change it out as it...

I wonder if all of those browsers use some common library call into the OS to do the rendering of images? If true, perhaps that common library (probably a DLL) is somehow corrupted? Perhaps all those images that show up garbled are saved in some specific format that the corrupted shared library cann...

When in doubt, go rent some gear and try it out yourself. You should be able to find a place locally to rent gear and if not, then there are a number of places online that you can rent from too.
