Re: soundcard showing as unplugged

I have mixed feelings about this thread. On one hand, it's pretty cool that modern PCs have become so stable, we don't immediately reach for the power cord as a troubleshooting measure. On the other hand, things do lock up sometimes, so if you're asking for help and have NOT yet tried the power cor...

soundcard showing as unplugged

Something happened when I plugged in a colorimeter and unplugged it. When I unplugged it, I could hear the sound of it coming out of the usb port on the front of the case, then after that, all the nvidia hd audio is now showing as unplugged. More importantly, my soundcard is now showing as unplugged...

question about the logitech z906 5.1 system

I have an Asus Essence STX II 7.1 with daughter board and would actually like to use the Logitech z906 5.1 system directly into the sound card. Is there any way to do this for a truly 5.1 surround sound?

Re: Actiontec Router Won't Connect

I get it back on. The factory reset did the trick. The power just went out not too long ago and it didn't do this. My computer, on the other hand, is a different story. I had to reboot a few times before it was back to normal. I have a Sennheiser headpiece connected by USB that wouldn't read correct...

Re: Actiontec Router Won't Connect

As the next step I'd try resetting to factory settings, then set it up again. But my guess is that the router got fried somehow. Was there a storm in the area when you had the power outage? Back when I had DSL, the DSL modem got fried during a thunderstorm on two occasions. I woke about 1 in the mo...

Re: Actiontec Router Won't Connect

Sounds like the outage may have been accompanied by a power surge which damaged the router. Was the original router always laggy? If not, then the ISP's upstream equipment also may have been affected. When you say you "restarted the router from the back" do you mean just a physical reset,...

Actiontec Router Won't Connect

I had a power outage last night and now my Actiontec GT784WN won't connect to the internet. I'm on AT&T DSL. The original router that came with the service works, but it's super laggy. Does anyone have any ideas? I've restarted the router from the back, unplugged, replugged, turned the computer ...

Tried plugging it in via sata. Computer wouldn't start up right away, I could just hear the drive spinning and spinning, and the computer wouldn't shut down with the drive plugged in.

the other thing about this drive in the dock is that I can't get usb to release the dock with the drive in. I have to shut down the computer all the way to release it.

backup hard drive just died all of a sudden?

I have a backup that i've been using with a dock. All of a sudden, I can't get it to show up in windows 10 when plugging in the dock with usb. It wasn't that long ago that I had it powered on, so I don't know what happened to it. Also, I've never actually tried to get data off a dead drive in any wa...

Try Rtings. That's the good thing about them; reviews are primarily hard data.
Hard data alone isn't going to give you the real world experiences that you might want to see and that's why I put the AVS forums link.

I would not go with OLED if you're gaming a lot. Even with the newest screens, it's not matured enough to fix the problem. I would also check this place out as well. https://www.avsforum.com/forum/index.php They will give you good ideas, but be careful, you will find complaints about everything. Som...

Re: For movies on disc (yeah), do you ever register your "digital copy?"

I have old cassette tapes that I've made digital copies of. Put them on CD's and now backed them up to hard drives as well. I try to look at it as if getting them onto at least 2 to 3 different places just in case. They're so stupidly sentimental to me that I just don't want to lose them. They aren'...

Re: Stumbled on a new project this weekend.

This is making me more curious about the details of how places like Galloping Ghost handle their display issues. Some of their displays are clearly in need of repair, but at the same time, the majority of them are not, so they must have a fairly robust method for repairing old CRTs on a large scale...
