Re: PreSonus Eris E4.5 and alternatives?

I use the headphones more . So i need a way to switch between headphone and speakers easily. Connecting ,disconnecting the headphone jack to the speakers headphone input won't be convient.  There is only one output on the motherboard , so is there a way to multiply and switch this output without los...

Re: PreSonus Eris E4.5 and alternatives?

Thank you for the detailed answers .
I'll get the Mackie CR5BT then.
Do i need a DAC with this? I'm using Asus Hero VI 's on board sound chip. Is it enough for these speakers?

Re: PreSonus Eris E4.5 and alternatives?

There's little that's "more suitable as computer speakers" other than having front-facing volume controls and a headphone output, really. As for the rest... what he said. Thank you for the replies. Every other review talks about speaker vs studio monitor differences but i'm not sure if th...

PreSonus Eris E4.5 and alternatives?

On the latest periphale stuff picks, PreSonus Eris E4.5 is recommended. This is a studio monitor , same company has speakers that are more suitable as computer speakers.  PreSonus Ceres 4.5BT , why aren't these preferred? Also , Mackie cr5 BT is on my shopping list. Would you recommend this instead ...

Rasperry Pi2 or HP tablet.

This two is not intended to compete with each other ,but HP tablet is (8' , 1gb) $79 on amazon and comes with office 365 subscription . So these two almost cost the same to me. I will use it as a printer server, maybe to download big files, media server . Does HP tablet makes sense for this? or woul...

Re: Is it safe to buy AMD R290 now?

Thanks for all the answers .

i bought another R290 last month (Sapphire R290 Tri-X). It works ok so far, only a driver problem, but seems it is addressed in the new RC drivers .
Great performance. Works a lot cooler than my R290 with first reference cooler.

Re: Is it safe to buy AMD R290 now?

Price here in Australia has dropped to $449 with an aftermarket cooler so I voted yes. The price isn't the issue, it is the overall stability ,quality of the hardware that is in question. I sent mine to RMA the second time, and this time they admitted that the hardware is faulty . somehow maybe ear...

Re: Is it safe to buy AMD R290 now?

I'm not saying your card isn't faulty, but there are just so many other factors that can cause the issue, which is why Newegg may not see a problem when they run the card through their testing suite. I didn't buy it from newegg. Tech services do it all the time. Last time i had a faulty Sony cellph...

Re: Is it safe to buy AMD R290 now?

Sounds to me like something in your PC is faulty. RMA departments aren't flawless but they typically test in a bunch of clean bench systems and I'd imagine a company as large as newegg would have enough people in the RMA department that you wouldn't get an RMA tested by the same person twice. If it...

Re: Is it safe to buy AMD R290 now?

Anyone with black screen issues that didn't get their card exchanged are just whining for the sake of whining IMO. I actuall own one Asus R290 , bought late december. It has this black screen issue. I sent it to RMA once, and they didnt see the error. I sent it again. no response yet. So it is not ...

Is it safe to buy AMD R290 now?

A few months ago , AMD R290 users were complaning about "black screen" issues. Possible a hardware error, forums ,newegg comments were full of negative comments.

Is this still a issue? is it safe to buy a R290 now?
I'm thinking about Sapphire 290 Vapor X.

Re: How to burnin test the Graphics Card?

[q This is a known issue with these latest AMD GPUs. Try the latest beta drivers. If they won't resolve "black screen" problem - replace the card. Is there any official info about this "black screen" problem? I just the sent the card back to RMA . I suspect this is some kind of ...

Re: UPS advice? powercom any good?

Line interactive != non-pure sine wave. There may be some confusion around here. I know that , but most lineinteractive UPS 's i could find produces nonpure sinewave. Only one APC model is lineinteractive and has pure sinewave , it costs around $600 , just not worth it. I can buy a online ups from ...

Re: UPS advice? powercom any good?

I can find FSP , but only lineinteractive models that produce Simulated Sine Wave . These produce some buzzing sound when used with Active pfc psu 's. Is this really important? i mean does it harm the PSU? Well, it is not ideal. There has been speculation that simulated sinewave UPSes designed for ...

Re: System for torrent, downloads?

Why not get a NAS like the WD MyBook Live ? You can download torrents directly using their web interface and not even have to use a computer. For torrents it would be fine. But it doesn't suport any other kind of downloads . Also if i install a linux distro, i can use it as a print server too. Than...

Re: System for torrent, downloads?

I am not even going to plug a monitor or keyboard once i set it up . I don't need fast graphics . I don't know how much difference does it make while using remote desktop.

If i run it on linux , can i also use it as a very powerfull router and connect my computer to the internet using it?

I use utorrent and jdownloader quite a bit. But leaving my main rig for these purpose is quite overkill. I need a computer that i can leave on 24/7. Should be very silent ,low power. Re: How to burnin test the Graphics Card?

Unless you've removed the stock heatsink and changed the thermal paste for something that cures/sets, there's no point in "burning in" your graphics card other than to keep your room warm in the winter months. The only thing you're doing is wearing out the fan bearings and pushing up your...
