Reggie White/Favre. It wasn't just TV and sports during that era, it was culture and a way of life.

Re: What are you playing right now?

Just got my WoW:B4A invite in the e-mails and started playing around last night. Not going to give any spoilers here but I will say I have rekindled my love for MM Hunter. The new skillset/talents feel like the best of TBC with the focus/SS aspect of cata. This might be the best version of MM I have...

Re: New washing machine

One thing worth bearing in mind about the negative reviews for modern day washing machines has to do with HE more than build quality. Meeting those efficiency standards and cleaning highly soiled clothes is almost a miracle. I bought a front load Maytag 2017 model and I love it. It was DOA but the M...

Re: DIY Theater Room

Looks good! Only thing I'd recommend is grabbing a HDBaseT extender instead of the extra long HDMI cable. I did have some signal loss initially with the long cables but after shortening the cables from the console to the wall from 6ft cables to 3ft cables the issues have all gone away. If I need an...

Re: DIY Theater Room

Looks fabulous. Great job. How is the sound with all those hard surfaces? Sound is fine, not terrific but the it is also only a sound bar with satellites and sub. The system pushed enough dbs but not enough to create an echochamber. I think the open ceiling trusses help trap and absorb sound and di...

DIY Theater Room

I have recently finished my winter long project of renovating my basement into a theater room and though I would share in case it may inspire some ideas for any of your. Feel free to message me with any how-to questions. Just a side note, there are a lot of guides out there on how to build a room to...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

New Kamelot album The Shadow Theory So far it's pretty good. Not as many hooks as Haven but I may just need more listens. No Alyssa White contributions on this album from what I can tell. Mostly just trying to put a few of the new melodies to memory before their tour hits the midwest next week.

Some video I took. Unfortunetly this is after knocking down the drifts. I was more concerned with my roof collapsing than cataloging ilthe storm with video. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1MHqLa3mCkxXB10fSWPTT8mPZla9KXnCT/view?usp=drivesdk https://drive.google.com/file/d/1Q_qmyxgOUq8DCJSPuEAZhZXoZ9...

I don't think I can take those winters.

Just FYI, this broke a local record that had stood since 1889. I have never seen a winter storm like it.

Re: Midwest blizzard

Up here in Green Bay we saw 65mph winds and about 2 feet of snow with drifts in places as high as 8 feet. Multiple buildings with collapsed roofs and several roads in the valley are flooded from the Fox River which had already seen its ice thaw earlier in the week. I spent much of yesterday on a 15'...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Swallow The Sun seems a little dirge-ey. Still intend to give it a few listens to let it sink in (or not). They can be when they choose to be (depends on song/album); but most of their stuff has really good range. Finally got Songs From the North CDs in the mail, so I can toss this up on PLEX and g...

Well I had decided to take a few days' break from seeking out new (to me) stuff, to give me time to more fully digest the things I'd already found; but I guess this needs to be added to the pile based on your description. Definitely not an easy listen. Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Amon Amarth - Fate of Norns (2004) The latest chapter in my MDM explorations. I'm quite enjoying this; they seem to have the right mix of aggression and melodicism (and reasonably decent production values) to hit the sweet spot for me. So far, I'd say Insomnium, Omnium Gatherum, and Amon Amarth are...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

Opeth is a decent enough band when they're doing death metal, but they are frikkin' awesome when they're playing clean. Pale communion and Damnation are both amazing albums. Damnation is probably my favorite all time album. Nothing like listening to those songs on long summer nights driving through...

Re: What are you listening to RIGHT NOW?

A good morning for some Kamelot - Haven album. Liar Liar is easily my favorite Kamelot song. Alissa White's clean vocals (3:20) at the end after laying down scream/growls the whole track is pure musical extacy. This song is one of the best showcases of her range and dynamical talent. It's so good it...

Coffee. Lightly burnt, at that. I'm far from a coffee snob. We make 10-cup pots drip-brewed through a Bunn something-or-other I can't be bothered to look up. We do use filtered water, though, because the city water is nasty. Anyway, for Christmas my father-in-law got my wife a Starbucks gift card. ...

I have used that product for the same kind of ants and it was moderately effective. Eventually I resorted to a far more organic solution - Spiders. Put a metal trash can under their nest and fill it 1/2 with water then put bait in the water. when a squirrel goes inside, put on the lid. You could also wax the inside just to make sure they dont have a good grip. That or just get one of these puppies: https://www.armyrecognition.com/images/stories...

Captain Ned can probably tell you a lot more about this, but there are lots of regulations in banking to make sure that you have redundancy etc.. and it's been common custom for DECADES for mainframe folks in general to have a primary datacenter (not in your skyscraper, as that is a needless engine...

I don't have a kid yet, but I have thought about it and I believe I will take the route of building a PC with LAN access only with controlled content to my plex server. It should work totally fine. Maybe check for firmware updates (for both) and see if anything changes (i'm sure you thoug...
