Re: Borderlands 3

I'm going to wait until it's on Steam and the price is in INR and not USD. Ain't gonna pay 45 USD for a game unless it's Arma 4 or FreeSpace 3 :P

Heck, I might even wait for the inevitable GOTY edition - i got BL2's GOTY for $15 which was well worth it.

They seem to be suggesting that there's too much conflicting information at the moment, and that 30% perf hits are overstated.

Just came to check on this, a post on the RPS forums seems to suggest it can't be fixed in firmware, and will lead to a 5-30% perf hit. https://forum.rockpapershotgun.com/t/bad-news-for-modern-intel-cpu-owners/28522 Cites: https://www.theregister.co.uk/2018/01/02/intel_cpu_design_flaw/ A fundamental...

Finally! Someone else noticed. Although it seems you may be talking about the Delta II rockets? Titan family went to IV, but there was a Saturn V.

Zen just sounds more dignified, more... zen... to me. It conveys a sense of confidence, calmness and clarity.

Ryzen just sounds like what a marketing department would come up with - something #cool to "appeal to its user base".

Re: Will the RISC-V ISA replace X86 and ARM?

Intel is totally under threat from ARM. Intel (and x86 in general) dominates all computing devices above tablet size. The ARM "threat" is based on the perception that (a) ARM will provide x86 performance soon and (b) the price/power/performance advantage will be highly significant and wil...

Yeah that's the thing. There are still very few games that we can draw any really holistic conclusions from. Doom is perhaps the only popular game. RotR had tech issues of its own and does anyone even play the new GoW (and it had issues too)? No one seems to play AotS (only benchmark it) and its ben...

Re: Geforce GTX 1060 Leaks

I am interested to see how a card with a 192 bit memory bus can compete with a 256 bit memory bus card. I find it hard to believe that GDDR5x could make up that difference since the RX 480 has improved texture compression. I'm pretty sure a hypothetical 16 bit memory bus card of 2016 could compete ...

Re: About that Polaris Power Issue

From what I could gather, 6-pin being out of spec *may* be an issue because if it's accidentally left disconnected (and I did this recently while troubleshooting some cards I have in my possession, so it can indeed happen) then it may pull everything from PCIe, which would be bad. We notified AMD of...

@strangerguy: I never said those Chinese guys were the cause of all this. What I'm saying is, AMD must've hired a bunch of rookies to do the card, wherever those rookies may have come from. Also, we don't know what part those Chinese guys played. I think his point was, and I'd agree, that it's more...

You'd probably be surprised how many multinational tech corps employ Indians and Chinese people - Intel, AMD and Nvidia included. In fact, I've heard even NASA does employ a lot of people from Asia (by which I don't mean just East Asia). Frankly if you were waiting for Zen till 2017, then the sanity check would have been required. ;) Waiting for new hotness (Vega/Polaris/Pascal) makes sense, waiting to get 2015 performance and 2013's chipsets in 2017 is not sensible IMO. If you can afford it, buy stuff now and get a year's use out o...

Hello! There's this game called Arma 3, which is on sale right now, and has a major expansion coming up in around 2 weeks (July 11, 2016). I thought it's a good enough reason to make this post - Arma offers a fantastic combined arms military shooter experience, but it only really shines if you join ...
