Re: Macbook Air (Haswell / Mid 2013) Screen Troubles

It occurs regardless of whether an external display is connected or not. The only way I can see what I'm doing is when I connect to an external display.

Macbook Air (Haswell / Mid 2013) Screen Troubles

Hi fellow Gerbils, Have been thoroughly enjoying my Mac experience until now, where seems I've come across a problem with my display. Powers up without issue, and when connected to an external monitor it seems to work fine. The LCD screen however shows nothing but black. The backlight doesn't come o...

Re: Macbook air vs Surface Pro vs any Ultrabook

The 3 notebooks I narrowed down to when I recently purchased were: -Sony Vaio Pro 13 -ASUS Zenbook UX31A -2013 MBA 13" The Vaio Pro 13 looked the sexiest in my opinion, and had the battery life to compete with the MBA on paper, but faltered in the price stakes. The UX31A loses out on real world...

Re: Recommend a Mac Book?

I recently purchased a 2013 MBA 13" and love it. The 2013 MBA is perfect for uni use also. I routinely get 12 hours on normal usage at uni. I'd recommend getting the upgrade to the 256GB SSD though. Arvald: I run a windows 7 VM on mine without issue for some apps without issue. I have the image...

Re: build recommendation for music production

As a music producer: Specs look ok. You would want to make sure the motherboard has firewire. Alot of higher end audio interfaces use Firewire, it's definitely something worth having when the mobos are only $10 more. Go big with the mechanical storage - samples and keeping multiple versions of proje...

Re: Any C-50 netbook users out there?

Guess I should've taken a look at the links. To be fair, I bought my dm1 on saturday (picked it up at 40% off RRP during a sale). Ot of the c-50 notebooks, most of them are very similar, just a matter of getting a design which suits you. Newegg seems a bit limiting in that only the acer is offered a...

Re: Any C-50 netbook users out there?

I'd probably recommend going with the E-350 based laptops (1 extra inch of screen size). The lenovo x120e/x121e and the hp dm1 come to mind. I just picked up one, and in general i feel like it has just enough speed in windows 7 for office style usage. Prices don't change all that much either (i paid...

Hey,

Just picked up a dm1z, it's good for everyday usage. Regarding your usage scenario (light photo editing) it's fine. I've got adobe lightroom 3 installed on my dm1 without drama. In general it feels fast enough. will be using it mostly for uni/college purposes now.

Re: $1300 Dev PC + Monitor

The monitor you have chosen is rather overpriced. You should look at the U2311H (at $367NZD) or the U2211H(at the same price as your existing monitor). These have IPS Panels, better colour accuracy and viewing angles, and generally easier on the eye. Your PSU is a little basic as well. Maybe look at...

I don't want to be a gigantic bother, but I had another question! Could anyone tell me what exactly differs between branded video cards like Gigabyte and XFX, and the standard ATi cards? Re: New Mouse - Where to go from Diamondback?

I've just picked up a logitech M950, and despite it's relative bulk compared to my previous mouse (I was using a corded MS Intellimouse in finger style for god knows how long), I find it to be very comfortable over long period use (and still finger-style), and responsive (no less so than my wired In...

Re: Solid freeze problems, AT WITS END!

Last time I seen this problem with the clients machine, basically random freezes. Sometimes a minute after you turn it on, other times weeks. I'd personally avoid the PC350, they are quite different to the HD595's in that they don't sound great for the price. I personally use my DJ'ing cans (Have Sony MDR-V500 (backup), and Pioneer HDJ-2000's(Primary)) and a clip mic. If you are after a decent "headset", then I'd steer you towar...
