Re: Kempner Rice Diet

Whatever white rice the patient prefers. If there is no improvement in the blood glucose level by the end of 3rd day, the patient may abandon the diet and resume the previous Diabetes management routine. By the way, my friend's blood pressure hovered around 130/90 for two years. After the 15 day ri...

Re: Kempner Rice Diet

I'm throwing the BS flag on this. Not all rice is equal! In fact directly from the article I am highly skeptical: White rice, as opposed to brown whole-grain rice, was used because it was considered more palatable to the general public and was more readily available. Plain white rice contains about ...

Re: To Lease or too buy an EV

There are some advantages of buying: 1) Generally there are more [frequent] incentives for buying. You might only get $2k knocked off MSRP on a lease, but maybe they can take off more than that on a purchase, depending on what current promotions are running. 2) If you plan on owning the vehicle for...

Re: Cyberpunk 2077

So I broke my no preorder rule for this one.

I still play W3, in fact I was just playing it this weekend.

If they ever port RDR to PC I think I'd be good for games for at least a decade!

By some bizarre twist of fate, I've never read any of his books. I really need to remedy that. WHAT! (as my 3yr old says) The Cryptonomicon is literally the bible on everything Crypto. But its a good read and yes it kills a lot of trees if you get a hard copy of it, actually all his books do. As fo...

Re: Anyone recommend a 1440p monitor with minimum backlight bleed?

Chrispy is on point on this. I think a lot of people are just hearing the horror stories. If you are paying premium price the monitor will have near zero backlight bleed. I say near zero because I haven't seen a 1440p without it. Now if you are going to go on the cheap and try a no name, knock off, ...

How about testing the new Duke game controller? Try it out in various use cases like gaming, doorstop, paperweight, home defence. I actually had to look that up. (I am not a console player) So its just the OG Xbox controller. You know I actually liked that controller, It fit my hands better than th...

Re: TR Gerbil's Choice Review I - Official Thread

If it wasn't for the clean up afterward, I would totally get the MMM ripping hot and then just drop a sous vide steak on it for like 30 seconds each side. I've used cast iron to similar effect previously. See, I think Sous vide meat, any meat, looks quite unnatural and off putting that I haven't ev...

Re: TR Gerbil's Choice Review I - Official Thread

I gotta vote real world performance and torture test of Optane. Second choice would be DACs add-ons for PC.

third choice would be Cast iron/oven Ribeye vs. Aluminum or stainless steel/ oven vs. Grilled.

I dunno, get with the times old man? If you aren't keeping up with stories that have happened in the last 20 years, I'm pretty sure you lose your nerd credits. You're talking to the person that has had numerous subs and still has said subs since the late 70"s. And what I don't get in hardcopy ...

My guess is that dragontamer5788 has not even read a single Marvel comic arc or he wouldn't be concerned about the multiverse. My supporting evidence is he keeps citing $#77y DragonballZ.

Re: MCU

Spoiler tags for the offended ;) Time travel is rarely a good plot device or even good story telling, its the easy way out. However it works in this case. Dumbed down for the masses. It created the multiverse that the comics have had for decades. It also explains away those awful Fox X-men movies. I...

If you are using any flavor of Asus Xonar you really should be using the Unified Drivers for them.

Re: Original Star Wars 4K HDR release (SPECULATION)

I grabbed the 4k77 version and watched it. Its maybe a tad bit better than Harmy's visually. (Yes I watched it in 4K) I did find that the Dolby Sound they used was far better than Harmy's. I don't know what they sourced their audio from but it was real clear and balanced correctly. In Harmy's there'...
