Re: slow network transfer

Have you tried replacing the cables? Maybe they're just bad. It could be pinched somewhere or something. Also, make sure they're at least Cat5e cables. I would also try reinstalling the drivers on your Vista box. Maybe they just need to be updated.

S939? Man, I'm still rocking on a SocketA (I don't really play games).

I agree with the other posters. I would sit tight for a little while as your system is still pretty fast.

In the top right corner of the TR website, there's an icon that looks like a double ended arrow (i.e., <-->). This enables TR to use a wider margin. Works pretty well for me.

The cartridges on those printers won't really be much better. One option, albeit a little pricier, is to purchase a color laser printer. Something like this might work for you: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6828112053.

I recommend Firefly (http://www.snapstream.com/products/firefly/). Works with all the applications you mentioned above. If you want something even cheaper, you can get the Firefly mini (http://www.snapstream.com/products/fireflymini/). Personally, I prefer the regular Firefly remote since it uses RF...

I love my Firefly remote: http://www.snapstream.com/products/firefly/. It's not as fancy as a Logitech Harmony but it works with pretty much any application including Media Center. I also like the fact that it uses RF instead of IR.

As funny as the name sounds, what I recommend to download is the software called G-Spot (http://www.free-codecs.com/download/GSpot.htm). Once installed, it lets you analyze the video and it will tell you exactly what codec was used to encode the video and audio. Once you figure that out, you can the...

The only way that I can think of creating a nested RAID is to combine hardware and software RAID together, which nullifies any performance benefit. Basically, you can setup a hardware RAID 5 array in your controller card and then setup a RAID 0 array in windows with the RAID 5 array and the remainin...

Image the drive, copy the image to a good drive, and then do a repair install of Windows. That should get you up and running without trying to recover the keys (except for the Windows key). If you don't have your Windows key, yeah, you would have to call Microsoft to get another key. I think you'll ...

How soon do you really need it? If I were you, I would wait until the MCSE exams for Windows Server 2008 (aka, Longhorn) comes out, which I think is sometime next year. In the meantime, you can study for other things such as the Vista MCP or the CCNA.

For a basic machine like that, I would have saved the cash and gone with a x2 3600+ instead, as I doubt they would be able to tell the difference. Totally agree. I'd spend a little more money on memory. Since you're using onboard graphics, part of the system memory will be used by the onboard video...

The one disadvantage of PVA panels is the slower response time. I'm not sure if one can even see the differences among various response times. The older LCD that you have probably uses PVA (I forget the exact type) that can display 8-bits per per color. The difference is 262,144 colors versus 16.7 milliion colors. The one disadvantage o...

If you're really undecided, I would buy the TV from Costco then. That way, you have 90 days to decide if you like it or not. There's no restocking fee or anything like that as long as you're within the return policy.
