Re: CM Centurion 5 with 430W PSU - Yay or Nay?

I would probably get a seperate power supply, especially if you can find one that is 80% or more efficient. BTW, I own three of the Centurion 5s and love them. They look and feel great, and just seem to work without much fuss. The only downside for me is that they can be loud unless you have some wa...

I would stay away from the pentium 4, especially since you are considering SLI.

Conroe E6300 $183

Asus nForce 5 Motherboard SLI $119.99

Should get a lot of overclocking out of that chip too if you so choose.

Another vote for the 7950s! You are basically making $300 if you choose to sell it or of course have one for your other rig.

Btw, kinda off topic but how does one get this Step-Up program? Sounds pretty nifty to me :) .

Also remember that for the longest time an Xbox360 was no where to be found. It was not until about a month ago that you could actually find them readily available in stores. So it makes a lot of sense that PS2s are outselling the 360. Why buy an Xbox when the 360 is out, and if you cannot find a 36...

I have a smilarly built case and just make sure you know it is HUGE. Much bigger than I had imagined. I really like it, but would never get something so big again because it just is excessive for me. Case fans are also loud. The case that I like is this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp...

Question becomes: is the $70 that you are saving over a 512mb card enough to justify having to upgrade sooner than you would having spent the extra money. Personally I don't like spending more than $250 on a video card so I would go for the 256mb version and upgrade to a more mature 512mb card later.

The more strain you are putting on your graphics card/processor, the more noise you will hear from the fans on your laptop. This is normal and the same thing happens on my Asus. Turning your settings to "Maximun Power Saving" shreds your graphics card's clock levels so I advise against that. That se...

Although the core are the same between the 6600GT and the 6600 (i.e. they will both overclock to about the same level), you cannot make a 6600 perform like a 6600GT because of its inferior memory speed. Not wanting to overclock the memory at all just makes your card that much slower.

Go for the 7900GTX because of its 512MB of memory. In the long run that memory will mean a lot more and give you more performance than even two 7900GTs because of its extra buffer.

6800 comes with SM3.0 as well as the potential opportunity to unlock pipelines. It would be a much more future proof card.

Each card comes with a plus. The 7900GT is generally faster in games that Nvidia excells in (OpenGL, Flight Simulators) and has much better support for its dual GPU configuration or SLI. It also runs quieter and takes much less power than the ATi. The x1800XT has the 512MB of memory, which will beco...

Dells typically have no cooling for anything other than the CPU and allow other components to fry themselves. If you could get your hands on an Arctic Cooling fan, then you would no longer have any problem.

B.T.W., most times those PCI fans are not very effective.
