Re: Windows Media Creation is old

Yeah, the 4gb download is the creators update, I just don't know why their website doesn't have it baked in to the original download (downloaded today).

Windows Media Creation is old

Is there any way to know when latest big patch is incorporated? Took forever and made a new usb drive only to install windows and have it tell me there was a 4gb update (which will take another 10 hours to finish); then I have to reclaim the space. 40% rant 60% wanting to find out if there is a way ...

Re: Pentium G4620 vs i3-7300

Things might make more sense as the full cpu lineup is available at suggested retail prices but right now the i3-7100 is available for only about $10 more than the pentium.  I would get that or move down to the pentium G4600, but all that is only right now.

Consider the r7 240 from newegg $30 AR:
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6814127958

Pulls 30w max.  Here is the comparison to the intel integrated graphics:

Hope that helps

http://pcpartpicker.com/list/7Vm7Cy

corsair psu and 8gb ram. G3900, xion matx case, Asus H110, 128gb m.2 ssd.   $224.12

I love hypothetical builds, I am currently considering a build centered around an AMD 5350/mb combo ($40 at Microcenter) and an RX360.  Just to see what can be squeezed out of it.

Acer Predator 32" 4k gsync same price as the ASUS ROG 34".  Don't really know what would give you the better experience: 4k@60hz Gsync or 2k@100hz Gsync. FYI: 1080ti slated for Jan release, pricing unknown. In a mostly unrelated note; If this is a preamble to driving the convertible over a...

I am currently looking at the 32" Pavilion 2k.  As a wow player and media consumer seems to be the perfect price/performance point at $350 US.

I recently moved from iphone to moto g4.  Absolutely agree with OP, paid $125 for what works like a premium phone; qc3.0 charges very quickly, 75% in 25 minutes, full charge in under an hour.

I got your lappy right here, its one I was looking at:

i5 quad, 8gb ram (1 stick), 256gb m2 with room for 2.5 inch hard drive $800

It has a gtx960 in it but if you don't call the police I won't either

Hannah Montana Linux...

Had high hopes for Ubuntu Mate 16.04 but wireless issues are not working out.

Mint seems to "just work" so I would vote for that.

Windows activation mystery

Have a person whose computer has been running fine for two years on WIndows 7. She called me in about six months ago to help her with DSL (she was on dial up). I noticed nothing amiss at that time. Now Windows states that the time to activate has passed and she must activate now. Really weird for a ...

Win 8 Drivers and Licensing questions

Ran into some trouble with a partial new windows 8 build. Put a MSI Z97 PC Mate motherboard and G3258 I had lying around with 8gb ram, bx100 ssd and Windows 8.1 OEM. As soon as I started trying to update the software I got the new blue screen with a vague Whea hardware fault. After looking it up, it...

m.2 heat?

I was thinking about a for-fun build with a z97 itx build. Specifically the AsRock board with the m.2 connector on the back of the board. I was going with a cheap Transcend ssd. Was wondering if anyone knew what kind of heat these things throw off? Would I need to cut a hole in the back of my mother...

Just getting started, I am installing this on a NUC. When I set up, I did not have to login to a Microsoft Account. Wireless detected networks but could not connect, I'm hoping a driver download will fix that. I hoping this build is stable enough to use as an htpc for awhile. I was using linuxmint b...

Total Linux lightweight, but just wanted to report that it is a pretty smooth install of Mint17 on the nuc n2820. Everything but sound over HDMI works after install. After software update the intermittent sound problems went away. I really only have two and a half complaints right now (with the susp...

Hope you don't take it the wrong way, but seems like you are trying a bit hard to use up an inflated budget due to the relatively expensive amount for their last build. Unless this Sage accounting app is performance sensitive, I think a 3-person small company hardly needs anything exotic, most cert...

I will look at the new build maxing out at $2000 but probably more like $1500 as I am leaning heavily towards a win 7 solution. What is the build you are looking at? Win 7 Ultimate is like 360 bucks, not 500. And what is this Sage software? I am not seeing why a build closer to the $1000 builds in ...

You guys are awesome, thanks for all the advice. They backup the data nightly and swap external hard drives offsite once a week so worst case scenario should be one week of lost work. I might want to take a look closer but I think that their entire data imprint is about 40gb right now. That is not e...
