Re: Trouble installing Windows 7 x64 on Intel x25-m 160GB SS

Try installing the drive as a secondary drive on another system. Format it, give it drive letter; the works. Then place it back on the system you are trying to install windows on and give it a try. I have heard it helps.

Re: BSOD when moving HDD to other computer

It is very possible when the PSU went it took out the HDD and the South Bridge (Chipset) as well. Another possibility is that your working HDD is missing the needed driver for the newer chipset. Your options are limited, but if possible back up your files on the old system and after doing so, move t...

Re: Which teams frustrate you the most?

This is a great thread for a Seattle sports fan to read after years of frustration. After years of losing I am not sure how to root for them when they are winning.

Thanks for the replies. For the DOS diags we have been using a flash drive, but the boss wanted it all on one drive for simplicity. Cloning W2K3 Enterprise 64bit

I need to test hardware on a server which has W2K3 Enterprise 64 bit on it. I need to test the server using diagnostics that run in MS-DOS as well. It would be great to have dual boot hard drive but that brings me to my problem. The only copy of 2003 server that I can use for this is on the hard dri...

A place like Radio Shack will have something to clean the contacts. Just be careful not to get something that melts plastic.

This might work.

From experience using just the two 1GB modules would be better than running the three modules. Using mix-load modules (2 double sided, 1 single sided in you case) can cause loading issues.

Depending on the CAS timing you might not take a hit running at 333 but I would not recommend it.

Roger that, let us know how it turns out.

The manual for that board states that it can take 2 double sided modules in slots 1 and 2 but a third module will cause it to lower the memory bus speed. Doesn't sound like your issue but good to know.

If they were damaged by a x-ray machine it would still boot but you would get random failures caused by single cells failing. You can repair this damage by placing the modules in an oven ~150°F for an hour or so.

Do you have another DDR board to test these modules in? Your board is supposed to support 1GB modules so it is possible that the modules are bad or I have found boards that were finicky about modules.

The whole idea of a survival course based around deprivation of fluids and food in oppressively hot temperatures, is totally ill conceived. I agree. Survivor man is a great show but even he drank water when he was in the Utah desert. He also had a real professional guide camped out a mile or two away in case it got real nasty.

Everything known about man tells the man to drink water.

Does it really matter whether he flunked or not by drinking the emergency water that the guides were carrying? He flunked anyway and paid a price much higher than the $3,175 course fee. Why would pay that much money to determine how much you can suffer when you could do that alone by yourself much c...

A Vista, Dell PC, and HP printer question

I am trying to help an elderly friend out with her new Dell C521 PC, loaded with Vista Home Basic. She has an HP R80Xi all in one printer that uses a DB25 cable to connect to the PC. The Dell PC is legacy free so I had to purchase an adapter, DB25/F to USB. The PC recognizes the printer on boot but ...
