Re: MCU

So long as there's a commercial free tier I guess that's ok. There'd be absolutely no reason why I'd pay for a streaming service that still has commercials.

I hate eating at the machine anyway. I do sometimes when I'm working on something and don't want to stop in the middle of it, but I spend enough time sitting in front of this thing as it is. I don't need to eat in front of it also.

Re: LotR TV show on Amazon

Yeah I was confused by that also. The whole point of adapting any book into a movie is that you've got good source material to work from, no? Maybe they thought the Silmarillion wasn't "mainstream" enough, even though there are characters like Elrond and Galadriel which carry over. The one...

Re: So who here is actually mining?

I remember thinking the same thing when I ran a Folding@Home farm. It's not that noticeable in terms of energy cost or thermals for a single machine, but if you scale that up to half a dozen machines without some extra ventilation both will start to become rather uncomfortable. That was years ago be...

That was probably done by one of the 120,000 people amazon has hired temporarily to help manage the holiday rush. They've basically hired a small city, and they do it every year. :o

Sriracha is a bit like fish sauce in that it's suspect if it doesn't stink.

I love the stuff, but it does make you pay for it every now and then. Fortunately it's never done that for me on the back end, but only up front.

There may be some truth to that, but I find it hard to consider the ubiquity of surveillance being "good" or "ok". There's nothing I can really do about it unless I want to toss the cell phone and credit cards, start growing all my own fruits and veggies, and become that crazy du...

Re: Cryorig R1 - Before or After Mounting MoBo?

I always mount the cooler before it goes in the case. In fact, I'd say the chances of damaging the board in the process are greater when having to work around drive bays and other components instead of just doing it on the desk or some other work surface. Unless your case has a cutout in the motherb...

Nah, somebody at AMD thought they could slip this one under the rug. You don't change your own website's product page to include both 560 variants unless you don't intend to differentiate between them. With the latest statement someone else at AMD is simply shoving the first person aside and trying...

As JAE said earlier, the half life of caffeine is about 5 to 6 hours meaning that after 5 to 6 hours half of the caffeine you ingested is gone from your system. Obviously it's not a great idea to be popping caffeine pills like that, but I still don't think you had as much in your system as you seem ...

2.5 grams is 2500 milligrams. Again, you're grossly overestimating the amounts involved here.

Re: Your favorite brand of coffee?

400 milligrams is an often quoted value for the safe daily allowance of caffeine. Do the math, and you'd need to be drinking a bucket of decaf coffee everyday in order to get anywhere near that much in your system. Even then, you'd have to down the buckets pretty quickly to sustain that amount befor...

True. I meant in comparison to a low calorie sugar substitute. Looking for alternatives which don't have as sharp a glycemic response is one thing, but it seems like we might be turning the corner on thinking the substitutes are better just because they have a lower calorie count. At least I hope so...
