Edgerouter Lite from Ubiquiti can hit close to 1Gbps. It's affordable, solid/stable and pro enough for the best home setups for sure. As for needing a controller (UniFi controller etc), that's for products in the UniFi family, Edgerouters are in the EdgeMAX product range and do not need a controller.
I've had this mouse a few months, same battery from day 1. Wireless lag...come on, I highly doubt anyone is that fast or accurate to notice. I certainly don't, and I'm usually on the 'econo' mode instead of the performance mode cause I forget the switch is there. In fact I found a much more relevant...
Swore up and down I'd never do 8, 7 was fine etc. Saw some stuttering while playing BF4 and read that this isn't present in 8/8.1, so I went for it. 8.1 with Classic Shell is pretty damn good, don't regret it at all.
I had a d-link DNS-323, it was OK but thoroughput was pathetic (3-6MB/s). I rolled my own with a PC and OpenMediaVault and it's terrific. I have a few years experience with QNAPs at work, overall not bad feature and performance wise but we retired them and I can't really recommend. In our case too m...
Ya I hate apple too, talked about how stupid iOS was for years the company was evil etc. Then I got an iPad...got rid of the POS Blackberry and got an iphone. Said I'd never, but just wanted something that worked. Anyway Asus all the way if your looking into the Android world. Samsung is terrible fo...
With the launch of CBCMusic this change is logical. If they want a unified look from web/iOS app etc is going to get dumbed down for sure. The original look is fantastic that's for sure, but we're talking CBC here. The news page changes for the worse every 6 months.
Moto 6120 here as well. Though my local cable carrier has a specific list of approved modems. So the reseller ISP I have only allows certain ones, and on top of that certain firmware levels. Same reseller ISP in another region has a different local cable carrier, so diff list of modems AND firmwares...
If the drive is plugged into an AHCI port the system is pretty sluggish in the POST, then Windows takes longer to load. So 'hang' would be the wrong term there. If I plug the drive into the Marvel IDE mode ports, it does indeed hang at disk detection for that controller during the POST. In any case,...
Good point, the PSU has 2 SATA branches so I'll try the other that the SSD and Optical are using right now. Update: Ok so another connector off a diff branch didn't help. Hanging the system on the IDE mode Marvel and AHCI SATA2 Intel still. Going to try it on my AMD now, and then see about exchangin...
I've tried 3 diff cables ya. Oddly enough the crappy old one I have from years back seems best. As for the PSU it's a Corsair TX 650, there's 1 optical and low end (no direct power) video card. Each time I've checked it in my hand the disk is spinning.
So I'm throwing a new machine together for my father in law. i7-2600k w/ an Asus P67 board (http://ca.asus.com/en/Motherboards/Intel_Socket_1155/P8P67_PRO/#specifications). The board has 2x Intel SATA3, 2x Marvel Sata3, 4x Intel Sata2. The Corsair Force 3 SSD is running without issue. The 1TB Segate...
Thanks guys. I'm going to have him over with the machine in the next few days. Considering BF3 needs the browser running, the flash thing could be possible.
Just spent 2hrs playing BF3 with him. Case door off, room fan direct on the machine, window open (it's cold here...). Was staying at 60c same as me (Gigabyte 6870) under full load. Had 2x crashes in those 2hrs for the usual reason. Clearly temps aren't to blame, though if anything he usually crashes...
I had mentioned to him earlier today to do the side off, direct fan thing. As for the card itself it's this one: http://www.asus.com/websites/global/products/ZOYt9pirNbbMbPOx/P_500.jpg The card HAS NOT been RMA'd already, it's a month old. As for ventilation, his Phenom has the stock cooler and is s...
I'll have him look more into the temps then. The card is less than a month old, so we wont be straight up buying another that's for sure. EDIT: So I just asked him and last night he ran furmark for quite a while and it was steady at 78-80deg. 3dmark as well, same temps. NO crashes during these bench...
Alright, long story short I built a system for a friend to get him to leave console gaming behind. It's fairly unstabled and it kills me cause he doesn't have a lot of extra $ and relied on my advice etc etc. We have: - Phenom II x6 - Asus based 6870 1GB - Corsair AX-750w PSU (system ran with a 500w...
I still have a soft spot for my 1Ghz Athlon Slot A. I keep it on my desk under my monitor to this day. Love/hate relationshop with my Tbird with the pencil trick too, hated the raised design though as I broke more than 1 taking on/off heatsinks. Found a an invoice 2 days ago for my K6-II 450Mhz for ...
