I'm Upgrading and Seeking Factual Opinions.

TR is always my go-to spot for asking about things - because these forums are not a caustic cesspool of oneupmanship! Anyhow: I will be doing video editing and possible 3d modeling on this. Re: Calling all Gerbil's for System Suggestions

No. Core i7-4790K is not much faster than what you already have and the speculative execution vulnerability patches have seriously hurt the performance of hyperthreading in the past year and a half. Thank you. This is what I was wondering about. Appreciate the input - and as always there are solid ...

thank you for all the input.

I am torn. I really wanted to utilize the older parts to upgrade their ancient systems without spending an arm and leg to do so.

Off to price and make decisions.

Re: Planned Build - Thoughts from the Gerbil Minions

Some additional considerations. Planning on attaching / including music editing / turn table / mixing cards etc. I would hope the PSU is essentially future proof for now. Yes it is overkill for now, but it gives enough growing room for the foreseeable future. I prefer the Nvidia card...because every...

Nice! More info for me to consider.

On a side note, I found out the i7 processor I have is an i7-958. Should I replace the i5 with the i7?

Thank you all for the advice and considerations. I will try to sell what I can and do the upgrade. I was trying to save as much money as I could.

Now I need to consider what case to use if I do get a new card.

Re: First time SLI with Free Parts... Need some advice

I can't be without a computer, so can't sell all three at once. Where would you suggest I sell the other two? I have no idea what their value is either.

Is it not even worth building an SLI rig out of them?

Anyone playing it? What do you hate / love about it? I finished it the other day on the PC. Re: Creative X-Fi Xtreme Audio Front Panel?

Yep it has the pins. When I connect that header, the rear panel doesn't work any longer. Only the front panel works. My case has a front panel cable that has the Azelia and HD ends on it. Have you considered using a splitter and an extension cable? I would consider them if I knew what they were. :)

Okay, last question - If I upgrade everything else (mobo, memory, processor ) Will my current video card bottleneck? or should I just stick with it?

I'm thinking any difference will be minimal in games if I go with the cpu, mobo, memory upgrade)
