Re: Something's different...

I was bored this afternoon and read this entire post. The roll out of the new design was a poorly timed mess other than that I see no real reason to complain. Yeah the new owners didn't introduce themselves, but does it really matter ? If they are going to provide funding to improve the site , expan...

Re: Something's different...

The front page needs borders, a darker color option and denser information. Before I could hit the home page and see hot forum threads and latest news with out scrolling or clicking. Running a 4k monitor I have massive white borders on each side of the page, almost 1/3 border, 1/3 content, 1/3 borde...

Re: Official: Ryzen 3700X and 3900X review comments

i know im a niche but its the overclocking that disappoints me on ryzen 3000 you barely get any overclocking headroom at all, stock speeds are competitive and are better value for dollar but overclocking isnt as competitive imo i actually was planning on getting a 3600 and overclocking the snot out...

Well NewEgg had the 3700x in stock for about 5 hours and they are back ordered. Either they only got a few or they are selling like crazy.

Re: AMD Zen 2: Ryzen 3000 series

Sounds like I should pull the trigger on the HDD soon. I'm thinking something in the $100ish range. I just can't decide if I want super fast and smaller capacity or reasonable speed and double the capacity.

Re: AMD Zen 2: Ryzen 3000 series

FX-8350 here. Recently finished acquiring the parts for a 2700X build. Should've probably waited a few more months on the CPU; even if I don't get a 3000 series CPU, the launch should drive the price of the previous gen Ryzens down. I thought about getting a 2700x and would still consider it if I s...

Well I came to TR tonight looking up specs of processors and figured I would poke around and see what people are up to. I recently got a new 4k video camera and my ancient AMD 8320 isn't up to the task of encoding 4k video it takes FOREVER. This video is from Saturday. 91 inch Skywing Edge with a GP...

Re: No... not him! Don't tell me they got him too!

I've been hanging around TR since 2003 or so and have seen a lot of changes in that time. Maybe its just because I am a lot older now but computer tech just isn't as exciting as it was back then. "Back in the day" when computers were so much slower a hundred mhz gain in processor clock spe...

Removed and started to rebuild the swing ram on the backhoe at work. Pretty much exhausted a years supply of cuss words in the process. The bolt that holds the seal on the end of the piston rod has to be torqued to 1100 foot pounds. Holy :o https://c1.staticflickr.com/1/735/33159998312_446a8982c0_c....

I used to be really serious about archery, I was president of the archery club here in 95, kind of burned out on archery after that. Last fall I was doing some work at a store that sold archery equipment and the advances that have been made since I basically got out of it in the late 90's are nothin...

Licketysplit came from his days driving log truck for Weyerhaeuser, he was by far the fastest driver they had so he got the nickname LicketySplit because of it.

Is it just me, or are phillips screws just plain terrible? They're prone to stripping, and torx is superior in just about every way (except that no one has the darn tools around). I need to swap a few screws in my car with those, now that I stripped/almost stripped a few of them (super torqued from...

So i feel a bit dull. I'm working on some upgrades to the quad when i made a great discovery. Motors in certain locations on my table will cause some sort of resonance in or under the table that creates the exact same sound as dying bearings. It's likely that my bearings haven't been failing as eas...
