What lenses do you use and why, especially older adapted ones

Hi there, its been awhile, but with the recent article on cameras it seems there's quite a few of you out there and so I'd like to know what you guys like to use and why! To start with, I have been using a ZM C Sonnar 50/1.5 on an A7R2, and I've seemingly made it my favourite lens even though its ma...

Re: Vivaldi 1.0

Been using this since you posted it, things look ok so far.. Pros: page loading might be faster than chrome for me tabs work very nicely Cons: things get rather slow once you've loaded up quite a few tabs.. didn't have this problem with other browsers using the same engine though, so not sure wherei...

Re: BDW-E purportedly up to 10C/20T, base 6C/12T. Thoughts?

Yeah I think most us will have more use for a CPU with a major increase in both IPC and clockspeed instead of a just a few more cores. However both AMD and Intel have picked all the low hanging fruit a long time ago. I wonder how the desktop performance landscape would be if intel didn't push...

Re: BDW-E purportedly up to 10C/20T, base 6C/12T. Thoughts?

The Amazing Kreskin predicts: If this turns out to be true (and I'm not necessarily buying it) then the exact same people who scream bloody murder about Intel not having high enough core counts in consumer desktop chips will also scream bloody murder that these things don't clock at 5GHz and cost m...

Re: New HGST 4TB drive, clicking on use = normal?

It is unlikely that ESD was the cause of this specific failure. Excessive reallocated/pending sectors generally indicates a defective drive, a worn out drive (not the case here, obviously), or a drive which has been damaged by mechanical shock. Was the drive a retail boxed drive in original factory...

Re: New HGST 4TB drive, clicking on use = normal?

how to protect components from static discharges? ... put into protective packaging I don't know if that was the cause here, but keep in mind that antistatic bags (e.g. pink) aren't the same as shielding bags (e.g. silver). Yup that I do know, which is why i always keep the shielding bags for times...

Duuuuuuum dum. Duuuuuuum dum. Duum duum duum duum duum... Jaws theme. Your drive is about to die. Get the data out, kids! We're going to need a bigger backup.  funny thing is that this NEW drive is supposed to be the drive to backup my old seagate 3tb barracudas! while we're on the topi...

New HGST 4TB drive, clicking on use = normal?

Hi guys, just wanna ask for some opinions here as to what I should do.. As the title explains, I've recently just bought a new hgst nas drive (batch sept 2015) for backupping/archival but upon starting my large file transfer it started clicking twice/thrice per second...? running a block scan with h...

Re: Computer sometimes won't turn on

I have the same problem, but its very random, ie: there's no pattern to it, when it doesn't want to boot up, it just stays with debug code 00 (not used) until I hard reset the board and try again, about 70% of the time i'll have to reset again.. and again.. until it, clicks..? then everything starts...

8) if you have the choice, may i suggest trying out my setup if its available near to you.. I have the D1, and a pair of JBL LSR305s.. Since you mentioned that you like the reference signature,(I do too!) to be honest with you, I was already very impressed when using my old Grado SR-80i with the D1,...

Even if the i7s/i5s are listed in the uk, their prices are out of whack if you want any that are in stock. Guess we'll have to wait until SKL-E then?

Re: So what are you using for computer audio?

headphones: self built grado-like cans with turbulent x drivers and rosewood cups, L-cush with tape mod. These sound great even without a good amp, great detail and imaging. JBL LSR305 x2 :D hooboy these might be the best speakers you can buy for the price! got the pair for just 200$! I'm a referenc...

Re: Dumbest Comments from Non-Tech Types

Years ago I was working support at a small company when one of the senior level executives calls me and demands that I come over immediately because his computer won't power on. So I ask him the obvious: Is it plugged in? He responds that yes it is plugged into the power strip under the desk. So I ...

Flashing pale red pixel artifacts

Guys is there something wrong with my graphics card as today I noticed it appearing in videos everywhere but it looks like it only affects a certain shade of grey (pun not intended), it looks as if it changes all pixels with that colour into pale red, as upon moving the cursor towards it, it will si...

Re: Anybody into pro-DotA? TI4 NA Qualifiers just started!

Generally the first day of the qualifiers won't be that interesting as they are mostly stomp matches, 2nd day onwards would be really nice as the teams start to show their flair, such as the most recent Team Liquid vs NAR matches and SNA vs eHUG. Thanks for showing your support to the teams!
