Re: High CRI LED bulbs -- I need!

At home I've got a variety of fixtures and use cases which makes shopping for bulbs a real pain. There's one room that is used for painting and other artwork projects (so high CRI), and the preference is very bright (12W-15W), quite cold(Pedantic: actually hot 5000K+, preferably 6000K+) and in that ...

Re: My thoughts on the Prusa I3 MK3 3d printer kit

As a related aside, I decided to take a risk and back the kickstarter for IVI: https://ivi3d.com . We shall see how that turns out. If things go well, it will be interesting to compare it to my Prusa. --SS I've been seriously interested in jumping into 3d printing for a while now, and the IVI looks...

Re: I have the best wife ever!!!!

I have to agree that having a conversation with your wife like that is amazing, and I'm really jealous of that pinball machine. I don't have the room for a pinball machine yet, but I've been wanting to see if I can get a CRT cabinet set up with hyperspin on it. But getting a good CRT that can handle...

I never heard of Miele......WOW a company that isnt conglomerate or re-brand The best thing about Miele is they are a home appliance company out of Germany that's been around since 1899 and is still family owned. And believe me that if they started cutting corners the German marked would crucify th...

Re: What's a good vacuum?

I've had a Miele upright U1 since 2012 when we bought a house, and haven't had a single issue with it. It's got actual bags and filters but they are not terribly costly, and they have a stopper on the inside that closes the bag when you pull it out so it's really not nearly as dirty to change as old...

Sekiro on PC is consuming my life right now. I've been playing every spare moment. Even in the morning after a workout while I cool down waiting clean up and get ready for work. It's just been this almost sublime experience. FromSoft, without the need to balance for PVP, and with a pure Single playe...

So a thought, I know TR has the Macronis discount for subscribers, but as I was ruminating about this thread last night I thought about the 'fundraiser' that Ars had, which included a yubikey. Now I don't know relative viewership or economies of scale but to be completely honest, a few articles abou...

Honestly I think it's more likely YT and maybe twitch or Instagram. Linus Tech Tips and other 'influencers' are getting the advertising dollars because it moves units, especially the high margin ones.

Eric is probably hands down the best writer they have. Especially if you are a space nut. By AT do you mean Ars Technica? It’s not really a tech site anymore, just a news aggregate. Anandtech. Ars Technica is utter garbage. Slightly better than the likes of the Verge, IMHO. I may be in the minority but for Science and Cars there are still some writers at Ars that aren't terrible. Also b...

For me, at least, it's kinda like performance tuning on my old 70s cars. Or hot rodding. To follow that analogy, my approach is to try to make a "sleeper" -- something that looks completely unremarkable / understated from the outside, but with serious performance capabilities hidden insid...

For me some of the best food from the Subcontinent was Keralan cooking when I had some friends from there who cooked it on a regular basis. So I recently got a Win10 tablet and figured out how to get the full function keyboard in the on screen keyboard. And the people rejoiced. Just Cause 3 doesn't like overclocked cards if I remember correctly, but the error is different. It's just a CTD. I've also seen friends play JC3 with a 1080 without problems, for what that's worth. EVGA has had a few QC problems supposedly based on https://hardforum.com/threads/warning-on-evga-1080...

The Souls games and bloodborne for various values of offline/single player. They work great offline, but being online/single player(as opposed to actual multiplayer) does add a bit to the experience in the form of sticky notes from other people.
