There was no choice and no better options, but there were worse options that would have made Adam more money. Out of everything that's been said here, I may take issue with this the most . Not you, DrFish, just the "no better options" part. There absolutely would have been some options wi...

Professional review all the way, Zak. Too bad this is the 7th or so time since Sunday I've tried to congratulate you on an article well-written. On the bright side, the 3700X looks very competitive, and probably hits the price/performance sweet spot for a lot of people. Not reviewed here, but the $1...

If you really need the latest driver for everything, go through System Devices one-by-one and you can watch your memory controller go from (for example) Intel Skylake U-series Memory Controller to Intel Xeon v5/E3-1200 DRAM Memory Management Controller. This is probably the best way to keep Manageme...

Re: Cross over cable to other pc, W10 wants password?

Of course, if you have an Active Directory, all that stuff can be centralized but the setup cost for a full AD network is overkill in your situation. Well, there's always "slmgr.vbs -rearm" ad infinitum on the 180-day Server trials. They claim 6 reactivations (or maybe the original + 5) b...

Re: Core 2 Quad 9650 Stuck at 2 GHz

Is it performing like a 2GHz CPU or a 3GHz CPU? I have an old i7-920 oc'd to 3.8 GHz and neither Task Manager nor HWMonitor (from the CPU-Z author) show a CPU speed bump while running the short CPU-Z benchmark, but the Min/Max CPU speeds DO change in HWMonitor after the test completes. I think the t...

I don't like canister designs - pain in the @ss pulling them around and watching them bump into things (and occasionally "hanging-up"). May not be consensus, but those are my thoughts as well. Except for the dust cup, I strongly prefer Shark Rocket Ultralight stick vacuum to Kenmore canis...

Rufus is able to restore full size of external media. You shouldn't even have to read the FAQ, which is about 500 pages of options I never knew existed, with a bit of attention to the settings used.

Pretty awesome to learn new things about old systems. Sometimes it can seem a little frustrating that one didn't figure these things out earlier, but late is better than never, even with overclocking.

Does MacBook pro have headphone out? You could try that, or a phone or tablet, to see if the static is isolated to the desktop. Does it happen if the desktop is the only source connected, or only when it's the second source connected? How about if, just temporarily, you hook up the DAC to the deskto...

4x Samsung F1 hard drives out of a Dell T310 server (2010). ~67,000 hours each and no errors. Out of service recently, but impressive hours.

BTW, NVMe (and apparently USB-SATA) don't report accurate power on hours.

I was wondering why the Ravens let Weddle go. Now that part is all clear. Earl is an upgrade, younger, and after the $22M this year and the $32M guaranteed, it gets cheaper for Baltimore on the backend. Ravens still have some linebackers to fill out, last I checked. Seahawks resigning Mychal Kendric...
