No, it was $25. The tag says $50, but when you take it to the register, it was $25. That's why I now am the proud owner of an orange box. :)

Yup! I picked up Bioshock and Orange Box for $50 total and got Guild Wars GOTY Edition for $10! Yay Black Friday!

Re: Guitar Hero2 Question

I wanted some second opinions as I bought Guitar Hero 2 for my Playstation 2 last weekend, on special for $50 off the RRP (I paid only AU$99 total) off and I slid open the box to find that the Guitar is wired (PS2 controller type connection and not USB). Now I can make a decision to take it back so...

Re: Crysis: Enable Maximum Settings in XP tweak

You can enable the maximum effects in XP by manually editing your game's config file. Runs slow, but faster than vista. http://www.crysis-online.com/forum/index.php?topic=11837.0 download: http://www.ngohq.com/news/12492-crysis-demo-very-high-settings-hack.html I tried it out, and it works. Yeah, you don't HAVE to pay-to-play, sorry if I gave that impression. They are reserving updates, hardcore mode, extra character slots, etc. for people that pay a monthly. You can still get the base gameplay without paying.

You guys that are loving it, do you pay the monthly? I was BIG time hyped for this game until I found out about the monthly fee, and that really turned me off. I've paid for a WoW account in the past, I don't have problems with fees in games that I feel it's justified, but Hellgate seems more like G...

Gears of War (PC) Co-Op

Is anyone playing this yet? Looks cool, but my only interest is in the Co-Op. Unfortunately, I can't seem to find ANYWHERE that will say how many players the Co-Op supports. Is it just 2? 4? Anyone know?

Yeah, but I'm not sure I want a full PC in every room of the house, even if I could afford mini ITX ones. Anyway those MVP things are just thin clients themselves and you get the unit ready to plug straight in with a remote control for under $100. I can understand. It does look like a cool product....

yes I think it's part of a standard desktop install you should be able to just click on the ISO file and it will open a burning dialogue. other wise there'll be something in synaptic that'll do it. EDIT: I've been looking at setting something like this up for a while now but just haven't had time. ...

Let me see if I have this right (I'm a linux newbie)... I'm downloading two .iso files (CD1, and CD2), I need to burn them to CDR obviously, but is that natively possible in Ubuntu or do I need an external program? Anybody out there using LinuxMCE? It's pretty cool, I'm trying to put a couple of boxes together to use it in my new house. Due to its current limitations, I'm going to use the "core" system as a media library, for storing DVD's, mp3's, DivX, etc. The "orbiter" systems I'll run v...

Hey, all. I have an Active Directory-based domain, about 40 users. I'm looking to add a server that will have about 1.5TB of storage available (SATA RAID5, 4 500GB drives on 3ware RAID adapter) for use. I'd like to use AD account-based permissions for the file shares. I'm on a limited budget, so my ...

No HD Super Bowl for Indy-area DirecTV subs

The local affiliate WISH-TV in Indianapolis doesn't broadcast in HD on DirecTV. They are the ONLY major local affiliate NOT to broadcast in HD on DirecTV. They also refuse to grant even a temporary waiver to allow for Indy-area residents to see the Super Bowl via an east-coast CBS feed. So if you li...

Nuked SD Card. Can it be recovered cheaply?

Hey, guys. Just got back from a week in Disney World. On our first day, my wife dropped the digital camera. It didn't hurt the camera, but the impact jarred the SD card loose, and she didn't notice until she'd taken a couple more images. Now, when I slot the card, it says it's not formatted. If I pl...

Games with narrow field of vision (FOV) make me extremely ill. For example, I had no problems at all with Doom 3 or Counterstrike: Source, which both have an FOV of 90 degrees. Half Life 2, on the other hand, has an FOV of 75 degrees, and made me want to vomit after 20 mins. Changing the FOV to 90 ...
