Re: I7-4770K temps

liquidmage, my i7-4770k tops out at around 76 C in Prime95 extreme heat test and idle temps are in the low 30s. I'm using the same cooler as you also, Cooler Master Hyper 212 Plus. I'm also running running 16 GB G.Skill Ares 2133 MHz memory at 10-12-12-1T at 1.60 v. I do have 2 fans on Hyper 212 Plu...

Re: Windows 10 - Best antivirus?

well, I'm using the free version of Bitdefender on my 2 Windows 10 PCs along with Malwarebytes. The free version of Bitdefender is pretty much invisible so you really cant tell if its really doing it job or not. Plus it doesn't use too many resources. I'm using the paid version of Bitdefender on my ...

ive installed Windows 10 on 3 different machines now. Laptop upgrade went smoothly through windows update upgrading from windows 8.1. HTPC upgrade went fine upgrading with DVD .iso from Windows 7 Ultimate to 10 Pro. But my main desktop was a pain in the a$$. I tried all 3 methods and no matter which...

I honestly could not say. I have used so many different brands. Crucial, Kingston, Corsair, Patriot, G.Skill, PNY, Mushkin. I have had to RMA Crucial Ballistix, Corsair Dominator, and Mushkin Blackline. I will not buy any memory that doesn't have a lifetime warranty. Right now im running G.Skill in ...

Re: Play HD video with an Athlon64 3500+ possible?

I sure didn't realize you could run an Athlon 3500+ CPU on a socket AM2 motherboard. Last I checked, those were socket 939 CPUs. Why even bother with running a CPU that old on an AM2 board? No one really uses a single core CPU anymore. even routers now have dual-core cpus in them.

Re: I bought a saphire 9800se 128MB... HELP!

I remember I had the 9800 that I flashed the bios to the 9800XT. had an aftermarket cooler for it too. it worked fine for the years I used it. the card did eventually go kaput though. even found an old 9700 Pro laying around in my old stuff last year. Stuck it in a computer for someone who was still...

Havent turned my HTPC on yet so don't know if it showed up there yet but Im not sure if I want to mess with it since Im happy running Windows 7 Ultimate on there. I could care less...

if you already have a PS4, there really is no reason to buy an Xbox One to play just 1 game. Can you really justify spending $325 on a console to play one $60 game? I bought the Titanfall bundle back in April when it was $450 with Kinect because I don't PC game anymore and I prefer the Xbox controll...

I hope so. Never been a big fan of OCZ as their reputation for failing drives has been pretty bad in the past. But it seems many have been pleased with the newer drives like the Vertex 460s which came out after Toshiba bought OCZ. So I took a gamble on one myself this week and bought a Vertex 460 24...

ive had 2 different Samsung 830 drives. the first one I gave to my father in law to put in his older laptop. it had a pretty good number of writes to it considering I had that drive for over 2 years. the other one I still have is under 2 years old which im using as my current OS drive, Samsung Magic...

Anovoca, I bought a Netgear Nighthawk R7000 about week after it came out back in last October. I have no regrets spending $200 on that router. Before that, I had been using a D-Link DGL-4500 for the past 6 years. I never upgraded because I didn't need new wireless functionality because I didn't have...

ok, don't answer my question. I read some of the other posts and the consensus seems to be there is no point to RAID SSDs. So now I guess I can just let it sit around as a spare or install it in my system and install games on it. too bad I don't play PC games any more.

I didn't feel any of those were really worth upgrading to. But with the new enhancements in the Z87 chipset and power efficiency of t...

you could probably install one instance of your flight simulator on the SSD without it being an issue. if you do both, you are leaving yourself about 50 Gb tops if you don't have all kinds of other software installed. its really up to you. the only game I play on PC these days is Sim City and when I...
