Re: Windows Download Manager Recommendations?

I have been using this for years, not free but when configured to your liking works great. http://www.internetdownloadmanager.com/ I second this recommendation. I have been using it for many years, and it easily caps my bandwidth for me, has no bugs that I can tell, works with all browsers, and is ...

Re: Enter TR's Dear Diary contest here

Dear Diary, Not much has been going on in my life – as usual. So once again, this will be another gossipy entry about my neighbours, who seem to live infinitely more interesting lives than me nowadays. Over on 7870 block things are hotter than they used to be. Apparently mining “Litecoin” is the big...

Re: Win 8 OK on older hardware?

I have Win8 installed on my Vista-era laptop (core 2 duo mobile, 2GB ram) with SSD, and it runs noticeably faster than Vista or 7 ever did. If anything, it seems like older hardware benefits from 8 more than anything (subjectively at least) Only thing I am missing is 'snapping' since the resolution ...

Re: I Need a Smartphone with more accurate typing

If you are interested in an iPhone at all, definitely wait until the next is released. It may be better than current models, or if you don't care about the upgrades, the prices should drop on the 4S and 4. Heck, I think the 3S is free right now with a 2-year contract. Would definitely be nice if a ...

Re: I Need a Smartphone with more accurate typing

All predictive text is rubbish. What the Android does right, iOS gets wrong, and vice versa. No system is clever enough to compensate for the problem of touchscreen phones being massively inferior to a qwerty keypad like the blackberries. Only someone who hasn't used SwiftKey would say that. Seriou...

Re: Troubleshooting Intel Smart Response

Yup, moving the data to a different hard drive allowed me to enable it. I wonder if it had anything to do with that old 100MB unused partition that was sitting there...

Oh well, got it working at least

Re: Troubleshooting Intel Smart Response

68 reads, no responses, I guess I am just out of luck :(

I think I might move everything over to a new drive and see if that works

Troubleshooting Intel Smart Response

I have my storage set up this way: 256 GB SSD - Windows installation and most games, commonly used apps 1.8 TB HDD - All other apps, media 1 TB RAID1 - Storage/backup I wanted to add a second smaller SSD to cache the 1.8TB using Intel SRT. However, it won't let me select that drive. It will only let...

Re: The new iPad (3rd-gen) has arrived

In my experience, app switching is extremely laggy - moving from one app to another results in 3-5 seconds of lag where you are unable to do anything. And if you try, it just delays the lag longer. Honestly sounds to me like a very different experience than my iPad 2 has been. Perhaps other iPad 2 ...

In my experience, app switching is extremely laggy - moving from one app to another results in 3-5 seconds of lag where you are unable to do anything. And if you try, it just delays the lag longer. It makes the ipad 2 frustrating as a productivity device (and the ipad 1 was essentially useless). Whe...

Re: The new iPad (3rd-gen) has arrived

Does the GPU have its own dedicated memory? Because the iPad 2 with 512 MB of RAM has barely enough for multitasking. I wonder if with 4x the resolution, 2x the RAM is enough? I don't see how it'll be able to run 3D smoothly at that res either, at least with decent looking graphics (which AFAIK was ...
