Re: What are you playing right now?

Playing the RTX'd Quake II and lovin' it! I can just about get 60fps at 1080P with my RTX2060 with global illumination set to low. I need to see how well I can do that with two upper-end non-RTX cards, seeing as it's an older title. And in reply to this, with two Geforce GTX 1070 cards in SLI, it w...

And FreeSync comes to the Geforce!!!

I had dragged my feet for a long time on a new monitor. I loved the brilliant colors on my classic Dell 2408WFP-HC, its excellent 1920x1200 resolution, the fact that it had DisplayPort before graphics cards even had DisplayPort (it also has every other interface including component video) and it was...

Re: Cooler Master Elite V3 500W?

In this range, I go EVGA for budget models, and Seasonic 80+Gold for long-term. The EVGA low-end models are unremarkable but reasonably done on the less expensive end. However, if it's my own system, Seasonic or the Superflower-made EVGA SuperNova gold/platinum models are the only options. I've had ...

Well, I had my first Prime delay, but it was only 1 day. Ordered my Dell S2719DGF 27" LCD on a Friday, and the delivery date changed from Sunday to Monday. I probably didn''t make the order cutoff, and it wasn't available from near here at the fulfillment center. But really, no big deal. NewEgg...

Re: 16 COARZ.... Not announced by AMD

Not supporting ECC on their HEDT platform would be very disappointing IMO. Intel never has. AMD hasn't "officially" supported it but it functions on particular board lines from AIB vendors. It would be excellent if they did a one-two punch with the next TR platform and required vendors to...

I need to thank y'all, for an excellent time, and a super-successful swap meet this year. How successful? Well...I could afford this to replace my two Geforce 1070 cards. https://eteknix-eteknixltd.netdna-ssl.com/wp-content/uploads/2019/07/IMG_4113-2.jpg Selling the two 1070 cards, plus a little ext...

I still call them "tracks". Anyone who says we can't can listen to this TRACK on repeat until they are ready to poke their own eardrums out with a rusty red-hot 8d nail. My parents must have despaired at how many times I played that over and over when I was in 7th grade. NopeNopeNope... A...

I also endorse both the programs meerkt listed. People used to recommend WinDirStat but SpaceSniffer is so very much faster. Really? I've found WinDirStat to be pretty damn fast on SSDs/SSD arrays/NVMe drives. I'll poke at SpaceSniffer (just downloaded it) and it doesn't seem to be any faster at sc...

Hey, nobody got hurt, and $300 is likely a substantial fraction of the vehicle's current value. In retrospect, I should've insisted that he also take the dead rear projection TV sitting in the back of the van that I still need to dispose of! The dealer is only offering me $500 for my ENTIRE car, so...

Slimbrowser may work, but it's Windows-only. Last updated Oct 2017. Midori uses Webkit last used in Chrome v27, while Blink quit working after Chrome v34 in Apr 2014 . The B18C1 is the DOHC-VTEC Acura Integra GS-R engine. It isn't an option in the `99 Civic, which had a B16A (SOHC) or B16B (SOHC-VTEC). Did you do a swap?

Hydrocarbons all the way for me. I don't do stop and go for work driving, so hybrid parts are just along for the ride and are dead weight. Too bad VW killed diesel, as it would make perfect sense for my driving pattern. Does Chevy still make the Cruze Diesel? The urea keeps the NOx emissions down, ...

Re: Intel cancels their entire desktop CPU line-up

I love AMD as a company. I paid $400 for the K6-233 at its release as the fastest CPU for all of thirty days before the Pentium II was released in an early panic. Owned a 486DX4-120MHz before that, went through the Durons, Athlons, Athlon XPs, 64, 64 x 2. But I'd much rather see an eight-core Ryzen ...

Has someone mentioned removing the CMOS battery yet, metering it, and if necessary replacing it? A failing CMOS battery can sometimes cause quirky behavior, and a CR-2032 is cheap. After that, I'd ensure the BIOS is defaulted, the system is cleaned thoroughly to get rid of any dust, and I'd remove ...
