Serious question... does it come with Candy Crush Saga? Im pretty sure that sort of crap ware crept into the original Win10 Pro.

Re: Looking for recommendations - Dell U2415 / 2515 Vs Asus Eye Care Range

You could take a look at this site for reviews http://www.tftcentral.co.uk/. I have tried the U2414 which is a sweet Dell monitor, unfortunately cant comment on the models you are looking at. Also I have seen a few comments on reddit regarding eye fatigue and gaming monitors. I am not sure what the ...

Re: Can a 144Hz display help reduce eye strain?

As tanker27 suggested above: https://www.howtogeek.com/213464/how-to-decrease-eye-fatigue-while-watching-tv-and-gaming-with-bias-lighting/ Hey thanks for the link. I think I will get an led strip to put behind my monitor to improve the indirect lighting. This will only help at night but its a start...

Re: Can a 144Hz display help reduce eye strain?

Hi rahulahl, that's really great to hear. Do you think your eye strain resulted from long stretches of gaming, or could you say it was also aggravated by browsing/desktop use? I see DancinJack mention he saw a small benefit from using a 144Hz display on the desktop. From what I am reading it looks l...

Re: Can a 144Hz display help reduce eye strain?

Are you sure it's the LCD causing the eyestrain and not the lighting? It could also be the reduced brightness on your monitor. Having it at 30% could be causing your eyes to strain harder to see the screen. Maybe try bumping that up just a little. Oh ya its not just my display at home, but others I...

Hi JBI, you might be right. I am not much of a gamer and mostly looking at static text. Also like most people I spend far too many hours in front of the PC.

Can a 144Hz display help reduce eye strain?

I am wondering if anyone has had success going from 60Hz to 144Hz to reduce eye strain? I have pretty good eyesight and can read fine print, but get fatigued pretty badly when looking at LCDs. - I have some computer glasses which have helped immensely. - f.lux helps to some degree but the glasses ar...

Re: Old PSUs

Interesting, sounds like you could toss a coin on that one. Does anyone pro-actively replace their PSU after say 5 years? Its mostly a question of cost and keeping old hardware running. Ideally replacing everything as new would be more power efficient.

Just curious, if an old PSU popped its clogs what are the chances of it taking other hardware with it? Does anyone have an opinion on proactively replacing the PSU after X number of years? Re: Old UPS

I can get a pair of Panasonic 12v 12Ah batteries that fit the place of the APC RBC6. Not cheap though. I was told if I put one on the same circuit it would pr...

Re: Old UPS

Very interesting reading. One thing JBI mentioned, was to add an external surge suppressor upstream. I have noticed surge protectors often come with warnings not to daisy chain. Is there a technical reason where additional MOVs can interfere with clamping times, or is this intended to stop people ov...

Hi Gerbils, I have an old APC Smart UPS. It was purchased second hand a few years back, and by now is going on 11 years old. Re: NAS Comparo

I'm using Qnap and they update the firmware regularly which is a good thing. The only thing to remember is to get HDDs specifically designed for NAS. Regular HDDs (even if in the compatibility list) will give you problems. Oh really, what kind of problems have you experienced? I can only imagine ha...

By far the most important thing when deciding on a QNAP or Synology is which one looks prettiest. I'm going to take you seriously because I agree it should be aesthetically pleasing. Do you reckon a dual core 800mhz processor would outdo a single core at 1600mhz? I imagine they are both wimpy Marvel chips, but don't know what they can do in the real world.

Re: NAS Comparo

All good points to consider, and a noisy fan or un-dampened drives would annoy me. I think the QNAP has the better specs with a 1600mhz CPU, vs a Dual Core 800 MHz for the Synology, and a 1200mhz processor for the WD EX2. The QNAP appears to be a few years old but looks like it's still very competit...

Hi guys, I have been thinking about getting a small entry-level NAS with user replaceable drives. I was wondering what the three companies are like for ke...

If you choose a custom scan with Malwarebytes 'Scan for Rootkits' is an option. Though I would like to hear of anything better?

Re: Value SSD Winner for July 2015?

Does anyone know the difference between Intel's 530 and 535 series SSD? I guess the slight increment in model number means some small revision, but I cant find anything to back that up. Intel's website seems to show the same performance characteristics for both series.

Re: PSU's 1 4 Dell Optiplex 755 DT the 2nd Dell XPS8700

Hi have you tried looking up your specific model of computer on Dell's website. I seem to remember they have technical manuals for things like chassis and PSU. You can look up the specification/form-factor and then find a manufacturer who makes a compatible PSU.
