Take this thread, substitute "Blackberry 10" for "Windows 10" and amazingly almost everything is still factual.

Well the official Last Jedi trailer has been out a few days. http://nerdist.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi-rey-dark-side/ and it is generating some funny memes too: http://nerdist.com/star-wars-the-last-jedi-trailer-internets-best-reactions/ Unsurprisingly a darker theme in this sequel and it is "...

I still haven't fallen out of love with the HD600's I bought more than a decade ago. My ears will never get better :( so I can't justify these. But that's a great deal!

Re: Goodbye Vega 56 at MSRP

Monitors tend to outlast GPUs, so I fully agree with CScottG and is why I always spend more on the monitor. Got a Dell 2407 in 2006. It seems pretty rare to have a monitor go out before five years, let alone three. You may have a few more years left. My UltraSharp 2000FP failed at 16 years. Somethi...

Re: Playing with a 41 year old subwoofer

What was the sub's nominal impedance? Most home receivers are 8 ohms, so I'm curious if the sub is just rated lower. Regardless, nice find! I love vintage stuff. I always lament the pair of Sansui 4- or 5-ways that my cousin had back in the 80's. Those things were beasts. They were lost in a house f...

You can still upgrade Windows 7 or 8.1 for free. I have a feeling MS isn't going to close this loophole until they see adoption rate and marketshare numbers they can live with.

I've been trying since yesterday to find glasses with no avail. This is ridiculous. I think scalpers have gotten most of them, based on the prices I've seen on Amazon. And of course leave it to the Craiglsist crowd to go full retard: https://norfolk.craigslist.org/for/d/solar-eclipse-glasses/6269564...

Da Shack was my first full-time job after high school, in 1989. I will always have a nostalgic place in my heart for them. Even then I could see their inevitable decline, when they weren't adapting quickly enough to rapid industry changes. So many cool icons from them though. Trash-80 computers, the...

Upfront disclaimer, I'm a BlackBerry employee but I don't work on the phone side of things. BlackBerry does Android phones, the Priv, DTEK 50 and DTEK 60. They get the monthly Android Security patch, have signed bootloaders (so no rooting) and have some software on them called DTEK to check on the ...

Re: Horrible Netflix playback on laptops

Try to disable the antivirus. It might be aggressively scanning internet traffic. Tried that already. Made no difference, and in theory if that was causing it, it would have messed with Edge and the native app as well. It's a pity there isn't a BIOS setting to change Optimus. Chances are if you've got an EliteBook and the GPU chipset wasn't expressly mentioned in the sales pitch ('NVIDIA 1GB Graphics' is a common one I see), it'll have an NVS something-or-other. It's not streaming in HD. I did the CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-S or whatever it was to verify bandwidth and it's totally not trying to pull HD streams. It definitely seems to be an issue with HTML5 playback and the Optimus thing (which I had never even heard of this before today), but there doesn't seem to be any way to bypass that. Apparently a few laptops have a BIOS setting, but not ours. The following is written specific to an AutoDesk program...
