Re: MCU

Just saw Black Panther. I heard reviews of "OMG BEST MCU MOVIE YET" but I wouldn't go that far. Still, pretty good. Saw it last night, and I'd give it a solid 8/10. Couple of overused Hollywood tropes that annoyed me.. frankly they annoy me in any movie in which they appear though: 1)...

Snail's Home, baby! LOVE the bass line in that song!

Huge Scann-Tec fan here too. Nothing like cranking "ASD" to the point of distortion in my car.

Well last night I was listening to as much of anything and everything as time would allow, because I had just hooked up my new toys! https://www.amazon.com/dp/B019YBHOOA/ref=twister_B01BKWQVAE?_encoding=UTF8&psc=1 Now they aren't broken in, my room is too small (they will be moved later this spr...

Re: Display keeps turning off in Windows 10

I have a super old laptop (~12 years old) with an unsupported video card that does this same thing in windows 10. I have the power button set to put the computer to sleep. So once Windows boots and the screen goes blank, I press the power button, put it to sleep, wake it (mouse wiggle or space bar) ...

Re: How bad is Windows 10 Really?

Windows 10 is okay. Under the hood it's technologically superior to Win7. Nobody is going to deny that. Interface wise, I can't stand the look nor accessibility of it. Just like Windows 8, that's the main point of contention. MS keeps fixing what wasn't broken, and a lot of people who were used to t...

Pioneer Rayz Plus fix some of the stupidity of Apple's missing headphone jack. I'd almost have to argue that they further the stupidity. What happens if you love your headphones but decide you want to go Android? Lightning to USB-C dongle? Lightning to 3.5mm dongle? Replace the headphones? This is ...

You may just be seeing more volatility because the prices are so massively inflated that there's more margin for the seller to offer larger deals. https://pcpartpicker.com/product/Cf98TW/gskill-memory-f43200c16d16gvkb?history_days=730 You could have paid $68 for 2x8 GiB of PC4-25600 in mid-2016 vs....

I'd definitely send that puppy back. I have inadvertently bought two GPUs in my lifetime that have had that problem (EVGA 9800GT 512MB and a 1GB GTX 650 from PNY I think it was) and both got returned. That's completely inexcusable. If he sends it back he might not be able to afford he next step up....

I'm just going to keep playing old games that won't tax my video card.

I wonder how much this has hurt the PC game market and pushed people to consoles. When you can buy a PS4 and 10 AAA games for less than the price of one component of a gaming PC, it's a hard proposition to justify.

I get all the "Leia Poppins" hate, and it was a WTF moment for me too. Lots of folks agree that it would have been the perfect moment to kill off the character. Now we either get CGI Elderly Leia or an offscreen death between episodes. Neither of those scenarios is going to set well with t...

In space there's no free gravity and no sound. Most science fiction, not just Star Wars, wouldn't be very enjoyable were those rules of physics in a vacuum strongly adhered to. Would you truly enjoy it more if there were no "pew" and "boom" during those dogfights? If the answer i...

Monitors tend to outlast GPUs, so I fully agree with CScottG and is why I always spend more on the monitor. Got a Dell 2407 in 2006. It seems pretty rare to have a monitor go out before five years, let alone three. You may have a few more years left. My UltraSharp 2000FP failed at 16 years. Somethi...

What was the sub's nominal impedance? Most home receivers are 8 ohms, so I'm curious if the sub is just rated lower. Regardless, nice find! I love vintage stuff. I always lament the pair of Sansui 4- or 5-ways that my cousin had back in the 80's. Those things were beasts. They were lost in a house f...
