Re: Eclipse on August 21

I've been trying since yesterday to find glasses with no avail. This is ridiculous. I think scalpers have gotten most of them, based on the prices I've seen on Amazon. And of course leave it to the Craiglsist crowd to go full retard: https://norfolk.craigslist.org/for/d/solar-eclipse-glasses/6269564...

Disable the Logitech software and see if the games play.

Also try one stick of RAM at a time.

Ugh... me in 2009: "Bitcoin? That looks really stupid. Who would waste their electricity doing that?"

It is, in fact, a rebadged Pioneer built just a few short years before Pioneer stopped building thei...

Da Shack was my first full-time job after high school, in 1989. I will always have a nostalgic place in my heart for them. Even then I could see their inevitable decline, when they weren't adapting quickly enough to rapid industry changes. So many cool icons from them though. Trash-80 computers, the...

Upfront disclaimer, I'm a BlackBerry employee but I don't work on the phone side of things. BlackBerry does Android phones, the Priv, DTEK 50 and DTEK 60. They get the monthly Android Security patch, have signed bootloaders (so no rooting) and have some software on them called DTEK to check on the ...

Stellaris if you're into grand strategy games and space themes, its fantastic. The Witcher 3 if you haven't played it yet, it was a truly amazing experience and right in the mix for my top 3 favorite games ever. It's two expansions, especially Blood and Wine, are also some of the best gaming ever. ...

Re: Horrible Netflix playback on laptops

Try to disable the antivirus. It might be aggressively scanning internet traffic. Tried that already. Made no difference, and in theory if that was causing it, it would have messed with Edge and the native app as well. It's a pity there isn't a BIOS setting to change Optimus. Standard operating pra...

Chances are if you've got an EliteBook and the GPU chipset wasn't expressly mentioned in the sales pitch ('NVIDIA 1GB Graphics' is a common one I see), it'll have an NVS something-or-other. They're primarily for adding extra displays and signage outside laptops, but I've had Latitudes of similar vi...

It's not streaming in HD. I did the CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-S or whatever it was to verify bandwidth and it's totally not trying to pull HD streams. Even if that were the case, I should have expected to see the same problems with Edge or the W10 app. This is a complication that stems from how the two web bro...

Re: Horrible Netflix playback on laptops

It definitely seems to be an issue with HTML5 playback and the Optimus thing (which I had never even heard of this before today), but there doesn't seem to be any way to bypass that. Apparently a few laptops have a BIOS setting, but not ours. The following is written specific to an AutoDesk program...

I never recommend Android tablets because the security/update situation for those is actually worse than phones! But if you absolutely must do Android, the only one to get is the Nvidia Shield K1 . It's what I would spend my own money on. Best solution is, and probably always will be, an ipad. The n...
