Gigabyte Warranty Service

My GTX-590 recently bit the dust. It's still well within Gigabyte's 3 year warranty, so I contacted Gigabyte and have RMA'ed the card to their Customer Service Center in CA. Anyone here have any experience dealing with Gigabyte regarding video card warranties? I've done some searching and have reall...

Re: Recently bought a PS3 and it has been awesome

Demons Souls looks like an amazing game. Wish it were playable on the PC but its not. But it has everything I'm looking for: good story, amazing enemies, difficulty and absolutely no pandering. Shadow of the colossus is a game everyone has to play at least once. Conquering those beasts is highly sa...

Re: Windows XP turns ten

We've got a similar situation here. There are a few people in IT that are running 7. Since, for the most part, we don't run the clinical apps on our PC's we don't have to worry about the incompatibilities. In the few cases that we've run in to problems, I've managed to use XP mode to virtualize the ...

Re: Recently bought a PS3 and it has been awesome

3) Starting a game has no setup. It just goes and it just works without needing a patch right away. Which PS3 world are you living in that this is the case? See this article on Ars Technica. This has been the case with pretty much every game I've played recently. I picked Dark Souls up when it was ...

Re: Windows XP turns ten

I work in the Healthcare industry and I fear my current workplace will not transfer over to Windows 7 by the 2014 cutoff date. There are so many specialized applications in use that are built by vendors that refuse to update their applications to work on newer versions of the OS. Hell, some of the w...

Are the V8's tuned for higher than 87 octane? That would be the deciding factor there. I remember the Bullitts were tuned to use either. With gas prices what they are, I'd rather not have a vehicle that required premium gas.

Georgia has the occasional winter icing, but nothing extreme. My classic cars were a 1972 Beetle and a 1974 Super Beetle Convertible. I miss them, but the '74 really lacked any close to power. I was lucky if I could hit 60 going downhill with a good wind at my back. Maintenance costs on the beetles ...

Finally decided it's time to replace the old '96 Nissan truck I've been stuck with since my motorcycle accident. I need a car that's small enough that I will no longer be asked to help people move, yet large enough that the girlfriend and I can take a trip somewhere and have room for luggage. Been p...

Re: I miss old games... Bring them back!

I miss the old adventure games. The games from the heyday of LucasArts. Maniac Mansion, Day of the Tentacle, Monkey Island, Sam and Max. Some of these series have had a bit of revival, but the originals were so entertaining when they first came out. Full Throttle and Grim Fandango still rank up ther...

Picked up my Epic Edition copy of Gears of War 3 today. I was very surprised at the quality of the items in the box. The quality of the items in this package really surprised. I've purchased collector's editions of other games in the past, but this has been the best one so far. So, how much does so...

Re: Gears of War 3 Epic Edition

The gameplay, so far, is classic Gears. There have been a few vehicle sections I've gone through so far. I'm not terribly far in to the game yet, but they're doing an excellent job with connecting you with the characters. After the scenes involving Tai, and the scene with Dom's wife, in GoW2 I was w...

Picked up my Epic Edition copy of Gears of War 3 today. I was very surprised at the quality of the items in the box. My pictures won't do these items justice, but I thought I'd share. What immediately struck me in the store, was the size of the box. This thing is huge. https://lh6.googleusercontent....

Re: The BEST beer, liquor, wine and champagne you have ever

There are a few different ways to drink beer and I have different preferences depending on what I'm doing. For guzzling beer after beer on a hot day and getting buzzed by the pool I like good ol' Budweiser. As an occasional treat more for sipping I really like Three Philosophers. Goose Island's 312...

Rochefort 10 - I can't find this locally, unfortunately. Picked it up when I was in Tennessee a while back. Best Quadrupel I've ever had. I left this one out (probably left out 20+ awesome beers)... But we can constantly get this locally (until supplies all run out), and worth every penny! SO GOOD!...

Stone's Arrogant Bastard Ale - If you find this one on tap, avoid the Aged In Bourbon Barrels version. I found it to be too heavy on the spruce and pine flavors. Yes, it is pretty intense; but occasionally I am in the mood for an "extreme" beer! It was definitely extreme. The wood flavors...

I have one of the Deck Legend Tactile's Ryu mentioned. I love it. The keys have just the right amount of resistance in my opinion. It's built like a tank too. Several years ago Sinbad came into the CompUSA I was working at and bought a Powerbook. I also met Shaq at the Orlando airport back in '93. In my infinite wisdom, all my 13 year old self could say to the man was, "Wow! You're tall." His response as he nodded at me and walked off, "And...

But, data security in the face of HIPAA is a completely different topic. The issues you have with HIPAA are the same the financial world deals with in GLBA (Gramm-Leach-Bliley Act; HIPAA stole its data security standards from GLBA). Data security is just as much a mandate for financial/banking enti...

Re: People who say "RAID1 is not a backup"

If it is currently powered up it's not backup IMO. The financial/banking world, at least the bit I deal with, is all still tape-based (tape rotation schedules verge on epistemology, though) with immediate removal of the tape to a secure off-site location. I'll second this from the health care persp...

I highly enjoyed it. It's definitely not a game everyone is going to like, but I think they really nailed the genre they were aiming at. A straight out, no cover humping, FPS. Humor wise it's what I'm hoping Duke will turn out to be; crass, juvenile, and sexist. I played through it on the hardest in...
