Re: Something's different...

using stock paste, then using Gelid GC Extreme or Kingpin kPx Gaining access to the heatsinks in laptops is far from trivial, it's definitely not "user serviceable". So I don't think it would be relevant to 99.99% of the users. I suspect not even 0.01% of the users HERE open up their new ...

Re: Something's different...

The horrible cloud solutions listicle is both exactly what I was expecting to happen and somehow also extremely disappointing. TR's been at death's door but I think it just opened it and walked through.

Re: Something's different...

is this the guy https://www.johnrampton.com/??? WOW! He embodies everything I hate about the current events. Remember the previous TR-is-tanking thread where people were discussing that TR's only hope of remaining a Going Concern would need to include better social media presence, more video experi...

Woah. Can't help admiring his sheer tenacity.

Owner No.2 doesn't seem bad either. TR might just survive and thrive after all.

Re: Something's different...

Today is the first I've heard of Renee Johnson. John Rampton is the new "business guy" and the rest of the team is the same, save for anyone else we haven't been introduced to yet. That's exceptionally ominous considering her post is signed "editorial staff" and the editorial st...

Re: Something's different...

TR looked old, but I considered that a good thing. Modern design trends are awful for usability and information density. And now it looks like every other site on the internet.

Re: Newegg uses DHL now without saying? Won't shop again

The normal '3-day guaranteed' was UPS up until this last order I placed. And it still is! UPS 3-day Guaranteed is still UPS 3-day Guaranteed. I just ordered some RAM last night from Newegg with the Egg Saver shipping option. I am in no hurry. If it took the full 7 days to arrive, I would not care. ...

Re: Newegg uses DHL now without saying? Won't shop again

It doesn't say anywhere on the site that they're gonna ship DHL. If they had been clear about it I would have paid more, but they did not. Thats what I'm pissed about. That coupled with, its not even DHL. Its USPS, with their worthless tracking system. If you click on "Help and Info" and ...

Re: Newegg uses DHL now without saying? Won't shop again

If you ordered the Egg Saver 3-7 day shipping, you get DHL. You apparently did not order UPS Guaranteed 3-day service, which was the previous standard shipping method. They've simply added a cheaper, slower shipping method for certain products. The price advertised on the product page still includes...

Does XP Home support incoming VPN connections? I know that XP Pro does. You could connect to the PC with an encrypted VPN connection and then use VNC.

You can actually disable the progress screen for AVG's updates. I don't remember exactly where the option is, and the PC I'm on now isn't running AVG, but I'll post where it is later when I have access to a PC with AVG. I do think that Avast has better detection and removal, so that might be a reaso...

Thanks for the welcome, though I'm only new to the forums. I've been reading TR for a long time, and post in the comments on news/reviews from time-to-time. That's why I registered in 2004 but my first post was today.

Vista DVDs only contain one version. And only Vista Ultimate comes with both 32- and 64-bit discs in the box. The other versions only come with 32-bit discs. So you were at least partially wrong.
