I can't stand gaming without Vsync on. Tearing really drvies me crazy and I notice it everywhere, even during fast action. I have mine set to 75 and I never really drop below that anytime so it always seems fluid to me.

Anyone Here in Hong Kong? I Could Use Your Help...

I'll be visiting Hong Kong soon for a business trip. I expect to stay there about one week. While there, I was hoping to surprise a mate from my college days. I tried my best to find some info using white pages and such but just hit a dead end. Also, many internal sites are not in English (of course...

Strictly speaking it is "redundancy", not "local" backup. But the term backup, like so many others, have been abused and misused to the point most people don't really know anymore. Well, if we can't agree on the meaning, of course well butt heads. I worked in data-center backup for Cisco Syt...

RAID != backup Would that not be: RAID does not equal REMOTE backup? I still consider it an effective local backup solution. How to force the Windows "Welcome" setup screen?

Is there any easy way to force the "Welcome to Microsoft Windows" first time setup wizard you get when you install Windows and boot it for the first time? I'm asking because I'm selling a few notebooks and when the buyers get them and power them up, I would like that wizard to start. But I wish to i...

The CPU and video card will be changed accordingly as well. Thanks again.

Advice With A New System

Hi Everyone, My brother is putting together a new system but I have been out of the loop so long, I figured I would ask those "up to date" what your opinion is? Any changes you suggest? His budget is $1200 and gaming is his main concern. Also, he is gonna run Vista, so I recommended 2GB of RAM. Here...

I gotta agree with Splinter. There is NO excuse for piracy, whatever the reason. If you buy a game and you dont like it, tough sh*t. Its like Splinters analogy of a resturant. If you buy some food but then don't like the taste of it, you can't have a refond, or steal the food! NeXus 6 , the reason ...

I sent an email to toddh@idsoftware.com and johnc@idsoftware.com way back and simply told them, no co-op, no money from me. I'll just play the pirated version till then. If they had co-op, I gladly send them $60 for my copy. Kinda of sad since I can't even remember the last time I pirated a game. An...

Memorex CD-RW media blows chunks The media brand has nothing to do with its quality. The CD's manufacturing code determines where it was originaly produced. Re: Noise coming from inside computer when scroll wheel is u

I've noticed this for years, on many different machines but I've never really asked what causes it. When scrolling w/mousewheel, especially though graphically heavy websites, some sort of noise comes out of my tower. Its not a fan noise, it's... not very easy to describe. Any idea why? Not sure if ...
