Re: TR Frankenbot 2019

Dang, sorry to hear that when F@h finally comes up with a working core the 5000 series is probably gonna suck at folding.

edit - It seems almost like an Intel level of product segmentation. Forcing GPU compute workload users to buy a work station video card or a Nvidia card.

Re: TR Frankenbot 2019

Yep, according to foldingforum.org they are still working on a folding core compatible with the navi version of openCL. https://foldingforum.org/viewtopic.php?f=83&t=31710&start=60#p308923 Bruce wrote on 9/24 - "Confirmed. AMD Navi based cards do not work with the current core. OpenMM 7...

Re: Folding Billinaire Now getting 15% PPD Tried Everything

Glad I could help. I suspect a bios software bug in the pci-e buss splitting section. There might be an updated bios on your motherboards website. Good luck with the 5700s! I am green with envy.

Krogoth, Thank You for giving TRFrankenbot a kick in the pants! Your efforts makes a total of nine active team 2630 folders. Maybe the cooler weather forecast will fire up most of the faithful. Monday and Tuesday we broke high temp records that went back to 1897, but for the next seven days they say...

Re: Folding Billinaire Now getting 15% PPD Tried Everything

I am going to sneak out on a limb and assume the two RTX2070s was last thing you did before it all went sideways after removing them? Have you tried setting the BIOS to default and checking the setting that enables the new hardware check on every cold restart? It is usually some non-intuitive choice...

Re: 2007 Cobalt SS Supercharged Dreaded Ding Ding

I had a Granada in Florida that started failing to start when it was hot. I grabbed my trusty can of freeze spray and made the computer box frosty. It fired right up. Replaced the computer box and no more problem. In a pinch you could use a can of air duster held upside down. If this has already bee...

I have reason to believe the latest V7 client, 7.5.1 does not support 32bit operating systems. I will verify it on foldingforum.org when I have the time.

Kind of a sad commentary on the literacy of the average bear, but here we are stuck in the middle with new owners. Perhaps they will try this two prong venture instead of a click bait site which will likely be dismissed as a waste of time?

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

By half speed do you mean you couldn't even get 56k speeds? *shudder* Yep, I couldn't even get close to 56k. I think the fastest I ever saw was 36k with typical running 24k to 31.2k and most common 26.4k. Paying a bill online was usually well over an hour with lots of page refreshes and finding som...

Heh. Welcome to the 21st century! Do you have a cap on your phone's data plan? I'm using a six GB card plan from wally world. It's thirty-five dollars per card for thirty days. The normal boost mobile plan is 3GB for $35, but using the wally world cards doubles it. The BM aka Sprint website a...

I finally dumped the half speed dial-up and I now have what looks to be real internet, wow! When the tethered phone has three bars, google speed test says it's four+Mbps! I'm now faster than my cousin's in town DSL, saaaaweeet. I can now retire my sneakers and just go visit (and squash his foolishly...

The bad: Yes, the blacks aren't quite as good, and a few images seem to have a bit of a washed out effect, but I believe I can calibrate that and take care of it. Also, I have to work on a bit of gamma correction. ... Most TN monitors I've seen have better blacks than most IPS panels I've seen. The...

Tr is still unique, and it's not because of the news stories. It's the community, and the community is still mostly here. I'm glad you're more optimistic! You're a good person, Josh, but your optimism sometimes goes way overboard and way past the "amusing" levels. What "community&quo...

I see there's a carousel on the homepage now for featured articles. Don't be surprised when looking at the analytics if there's some serious longtail action happening. I appreciate the lack of auto-scrolling, but once something gets 3 or 4 slides deep in the carousel there's probably not going to b...

Hey Farmpuma, how ya been? Last we met in person was like 2005 or 2006. Whew, time flies. Re: TR Redesign: bugs - features - tips

I will add the latest 32bit Opera to my sneaker net list. As far as I can tell the site works okay with Opera 12. An unpleasant too-much-JS pause in the homepage, but otherwise functional. Which other older browsers do you use, and whither do you sneakernet? I also use Firefox 3.6.8 on the Opera 11...

Still no love for older browsers. Do we really need the highest level of man-in-the-middle security for news, reviews, and comments content? In my opinion it only serves to make the site less responsive. Due to cross site scripting I'd say yes we do. Being a nuts and bolts and solder hardware guy I...

Caught my second episode (the second?) of Pandora on the CW. Feeling a bit of a Babylon 5 vibe.

Then The 100 put me to sleep about half way through. Too convoluted is too convoluted.

Re: Gerbitl GPU spend $$$

For my personal use (mostly F@h) I voted $100 - $200 for a close out sale several years ago on a GTX650Ti. IIRC it was closer to $100 than $200. It has folded exactly one work unit in a system I hosed while trying to enable dual channel memory. This past week I verified it is not the reason for the ...

Still watching waaay too much GRIT TV. Found myself thinking of buying a pair of cowboy boots and maybe a horse!? And kinda wishing I had not traded away my Ruger Single Six and western holster rig for a TC Contender with a 10" 357 BBL. Preteen years listening to The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke on...
