Re: Something's different...

Forgive me if someone else has already mentioned this, as I am only up to page eight on this thread, there is no support for older browsers. Opera 11 is failing with a security error. I eventually plan to update it, but I must borrow a "real" internet connection to do so. And from the harp...

Re: Gerbitl GPU spend $$$

For my personal use (mostly F@h) I voted $100 - $200 for a close out sale several years ago on a GTX650Ti. IIRC it was closer to $100 than $200. It has folded exactly one work unit in a system I hosed while trying to enable dual channel memory. This past week I verified it is not the reason for the ...

Re: What shows are you recently watching?

Still watching waaay too much GRIT TV. Found myself thinking of buying a pair of cowboy boots and maybe a horse!? And kinda wishing I had not traded away my Ruger Single Six and western holster rig for a TC Contender with a 10" 357 BBL. Preteen years listening to The Lone Ranger and Gunsmoke on...

Re: My 30 y/o fridge is clicking

Ten or twelve years ago I replaced a 1949 GE with a freezer on top 18 cu-ft Whirlpool. It was $399 installed from Lowe's. It still looks and runs like new out of box. It freezes my microwave entrees so hard I have to add a minute or so to the defrost time. The interior is flexible and very well desi...

Re: What shows are you recently watching?

The local ABC affiliate recently added five channels. The Justice channel and Court TV were both immediately blocked from my active list. My favorite channel is GRIT. I'm currently addicted to Laramie and Death Valley Days. They have also shown a ton of really outstanding movies including a John Way...

Re: Tech Report Folding Team Status Update for May 1st 2019

Thanks for another great update! I was surprised to see my efforts still listed in the top twenty team 2630 folders since the last work unit from my son's 1070 was on 11 April. Maybe it's getting a little too warm down there in Florida. I hope to have my 650Ti and 550Ti folding soon.

You might try a red Sharpie. I use a silver Sharpie to put the numbers on my black Rubbermaid mailbox. It usually needs a fresh coat every other year or so, but it lasts surprisingly well and it's on the west side of the mailbox.

Was glad to see For the People return to ABC Thursday at ten ET. Last week was very good, but this week I took a gap/nap in the middle.

Things I wish I could see -

Tim Burton's version of Dumbo and American Gods on Stars

Finally got the 30-30 checked over and wound up putting a box downrange with it. Accuracy is....pretty bad tbh. I don't think I can ethically use it to hunt. It's not just POI, but the groups are really bad. Like, can't cover them with my palm at 25 yards bad (but I don't think there's any keyholin...

What do you mean by "tangent sights?" If you mean a blade or post front and a notch rear, set the big orange bull on top of the front sight flanked by the notch, flat across the top. If you mean the peep sights from the original picture, punch a circular hole near the center of the orange ...

Re: [Fixed!] The Sad State of Appliances (in this case, Refrigerators)

Congrats on saving a major appliance! When loading the door always remember to keep the heavy stuff close to the hinge. Eight pounds per gallon of milk or water with a two or three foot lever can exert a lot of torque on plastic parts.

Good luck with your reclaimed GPU! If your house gets a little chilly you might crunch a few work units for team 2630 and let us know how the lowly 560 performs. F@h has three flavors of Linux GPU folding.

It should work fine, although you may need to connect one of the second card outputs to one of the inputs on your monitor.

The port on the Altec sub is circular and the top from a plastic 35mm film container fit perfectly. I also have a Sony boombox from the early 1990s with curved triangular ports for which I'm debating folded small bubble bubble pack or carved one inch thick Styrofoam insulation. The last time I fired...

Currently taking a break from a similar gremlin fight with an i5-750 and a GA-P55-USB3 motherboard. It fired up just fine at first build and even finished a couple different F@h work units, but the memory was running single channel. After that effort it all went sideways. Going to think long and har...

Yeah, definitely not audiofile (Ned is shaking his head right now in disgust) but they're fine for what they are. What they do have is a ton of (albeit muddy) BOOM BOOM BOOM. I had good luck removing the BOOM BOOM BOOM on a small Altec sub by plugging the cabinet reflex port. I know I lost a little...

Friday, while I was opening the barn doors to help dry the mess caused by the massively leaky roof, I noticed orange paint in a soggy box I had thought contained my horseshoe set. DrD,

The next time you are in Walmart pick up a couple of boxes of CCI standard velocity 22LR for $3.47 per box of 50. The packaging sucks, but they will almost certainly group tighter than either of those boxes of hi-speeds.
