Re: World Of Warcraft

Just to throw another dungeon finder experience out there. My brother was doing some Outlands instance and they had this incredibly crappy hunter with them who kept dying and aggroing many mobs causing wipe-outs. At the end of the instance, he ninja'ed a bunch of epics. If you /ignore player-server...

Well, I have a completely new local LAN group that I've been attending LAN parties with for a while now. We try to have a LAN party once a month, so if there's anyone interested PM me for details... ;)

Re: World Of Warcraft

I have a love/hate relationship with the Dungeon Finder. It's hella fast and it's very nice when you get a good group, but I've had some pretty horrid experiences with it. Lately I've done almost no runs unless I can get a couple guildies to go with me. The funnest thing I've done is blowing through...

Re: Your Current Video Game Playlist?

Day in and day out it's WOW. Once a month or a bunch of us get together for a LAN party and play FEAR Combat, CoD4 and UT3/UT2004. I have a stack of newer games to play (Mass Effect, Fallout 3 and others) but whenever I have freetime I'm jumping on WOW...

Re: Cooler Master HAF or Storm Sniper

I think it would depend on what you do with your computer. If you don't mind a large, heavy case, then I would go with the HAF (actually I just did, I pick it up tonight). If you want something smaller and lighter, then go with the Storm Sniper. From what I've read, they are both nice cases, with th...

Re: Powerful Gaming Laptop

If you can't afford a computer, then don't buy one!! Only buy as much as you can afford. Sure, a gaming laptop might look sexy, but considering you can get a $500 gaming desktop, a gaming laptop can hardly be considered a 'need'. True, but if you do a lot of mobile gaming (or want to), then a gamin...

Re: Powerful Gaming Laptop

I know you said you didn't like gateway but I bought a 7811FX from BB and it's awesome. I run all the latest games and it plows through everything. Never had a single hickup or crash. It's a little over your budget but really your budget is too low for a gaming laptop. Ohh and saying gaming and lap...

Re: What do you want in a pc game?

I love RPG's. I used to be a huge FPS gamer, but got bored with them a couple of years ago. I still play FPS games once a month at a LAN party, but the rest of the time I mainly play RPG's. I loved the Diablo series of games and a lot of the Diablo style clones (Sacred, Titan Quest). Then a few year...

Re: Game DRM thread - annoying DRM (do not buy list)

Isn't Hellgate London getting shut down anyway? Eventually, yes. Flagship lost the money to keep their employees and the rights to the game. Namco is managing the server right now, but that's only going to last until the issue of who has rights to the game is resolved. It's too bad as I really enjo...

Re: Computers sold in stores?

Part of the reason for building your own PC is that you can then choose exactly which parts go into it and avoid some of the unidentifiable, cheap OEM parts that end up in pre-built systems. As others have already said, at the lower end of the market you'll be hard pushed to make much of a cost sav...

Great pics of your cats Spot! Below is one of my cats. I'll have to dig up a pic or two of them together, as I have a couple of good ones. I'm terrible at photography, but trying to learn. Here's a couple of shots I took. I'm using a Canon S5 IS, as I can't buy anything more high end until I can pro...

Re: Where can I compare Mobile Graphics Cards or gaming laptops?

Best bang for the buck gaming laptops right now are the Gateway P-FX series. The latest of these is the P-7811FX which runs around $1450. It has a 17" screen running 1920x1200, a 2.2Ghz Centrino2 CPU, 4GB RAM and 9800M GTS video. Nice specs for the money. Comes with Vista Home Premium x64. If y...

The Thermalright SI-128 SE is worth a look. It cools close to as well as the Ultra 120 Extreme, isn't as tall and it's cheaper. Best of all, especially on certain boards like the IP35 Pro, the downward blowing fan helps cool off mobo components as well as the CPU. The tower coolers can't do that.

Did you try setting it to 401Mhz FSB instead of 400? I thought I read that to get past a certain strap setting you had to go past 400Mhz. That's what I did with my E6400 and P5B Deluxe. I couldn't get it to post @ 400Mhz FSB, but @ 401 it boots and runs fine. I've been running my system @ 3.2Ghz for...

@Nitrodist, what other benchmarks should I try? I have only the free versions of 3DMark05 and 06 (which I hate as benchmarking tools, but rather use to test for stability when overclocking), so I can't use AA with them. Are there any other good benchmarking tools I can get for free that will let me ...

I was kinda wondering if this behavior was typical for the 8800 series cards, or just my card. If anyone who has an 8800 series card and FEAR could test this, I'd appreciate it.

I love threads like this, I get so many good ideas. I'm reading Anne Rice's Vampire books, because someone recommended them that has the same taste as I do, but I'm not overly impressed. I need something else, I think. The last book I read that thrilled me was The Terror, by Dan Simmons. Do you lik...
