Re: STAR WARS TIME! - Spoiler Lock Lifted

Time travel, yes I know its a over used plot device but SW EU rarely used it and only used it for very specific reasons. In the way Rebels served it up we hear voices, past, present, AND future! We hear Yoda, Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, Kanan Jarrus, Anakin Skywalker. But then we hear Obi-Wan Ken...

Re: 1.1.1.1 feels like 127.0.0.1?

Here are a few things to think about before praising third party DNS servers. If you are looking for security/privacy, look elsewhere (likely Tor). Even if your DNS look ups are encrypted, ISPs can simple reverse lookup the IP address you are talking to or setup filters for known IP addresses (faceb...

Re: Bitcoin bubble-tastic??

A number of financial institutions are now starting to look into crypto-currencies as a possible new asset class, due to economic instability in some parts of the world. Hence, the jump. Re: 32-core Skylake-EP

Typically AMD puts out a core that doesn't quite perform like Intel's on a per core basis but packs in multiple cores for increased throughput. If Intel matches the core count and clock of AMD, then AMD must compete on per core efficiency or price. (I know, I'm Captain Obvious). Historically, Intel ...

I exclusively use my optical drive for blu-rays (ie game installs are all via steam now).

I've already replaced my blu-ray drive once. So it gets a lot of use in my comp.

Isn't choice what it is all about?

What the companies are banking on is: co-existence. GC/PS2/Xbox co-existed, and so will Wii/Xbox360/PS3. DS and PSP are co-existing. No wants there to be only Intel, just as much as no one wants there to be just nVidia or ATI(AMD). The companies are banking on the idea that both can exist as long as...

I too had the problem of keeping up with expensive cartridges. Therefore, I resolved to do non-photo printing at home, and instead use other services. When anandtech opens the second paragraph of his review with this line: "But even before we begin, we have to go back to the 8800 GTS 320 and talk about what a terrific value it is for people who want great performance and don't need ultra high resolutions with AA cranked up" I don't give ...

Wireless?

Everything I've heard about ADT is that they strongly discourage the use of wireless, because you don't want bad reception to prevent the home base from knowing if you are being burglarized.

But, in my opinion, here is a valid defense. 1) RIAA must prove that the file transmitted actually is copyrighted data (ie they can't go off of simply the file name. 2) RIAA must prove it legally acquired the information. 3) They must prove that they have the right to demand ...

Photronics (optical transistors) instead of Electronics???

I was reading announcements toward the development of transistors that switch by using photons rather than electrons. This seems quite interesting to me, besides getting 100 times increase in speed. As we all know, a photon is a component of light, similar to how an electron is a component of an ato...

Shintai,

I kinda disagree with you. In order for ATI/AMD to get a certificate, wouldn't their hardware have to be verified as producing the same image as MS's software renderer? You can't verify that with just a driver.

Umm, two HDMI connectors to separate audio from video? Wasn't HDMI intended to have audio/video travelling over the same cable?

Plus, do any HDMI devices accept video and audio on different HDMI connectors?

No, the others (Edward James Olmos and such) seemed to treat him as though he actually has a veteran.

So yeah. I don't believe he was a replicant.
