Re: What Router do you use?

An ASUS RT-AC68U like everyone else apparently. BTW, right now you can buy a rebranded RT-AC68U from T-Mobile for $59.  T-Mobile has their own custom firmware on it, but there are instructions online of how to overwrite the bootloader and be able to load the stock (or Merlin, if you prefer) Asus fi...

Sits behind the Verizon router, but that's really only functioning as a coax -> ethernet bridge.

Re: Anyone else underwhelmed by FreeSync launch?

I'd like to jump in the Freesync pool but I'd have to see if anything comes up at 300 or lower. I'm not paying more than I did for my GPU for a monitor, heh. Seems a bit backwards in a way; surely the average lifespan for a monitor is longer than that of a GPU? This argument doesn't quite make sens...

Re: Anyone else underwhelmed by FreeSync launch?

Yep, right there with you. I was looking forward to the release, and hoping for something that would kill gsync outright, but I think we're going to have to wait a long time for that (this is coming from someone with a GTX 670 which is compatible with gsync, but no gsync monitor). The ghosting issue...

This is what I use. It costs 5 dollars to download, or you can get a free version from the previous release. It is free software, so this is should still be fine, but donate to them if you enjoy it!

Re: Best Android Phone to Buy (VZW)

I believe Samsung is one of the best, as far as updates go. Usually the fastest to release the updates, as well. Have you thought about the google play editions of the Galaxy S 4 or the HTC One? Not sure if they support Verizon's frequencies, but they are unlocked, and presumably will receive update...

Does the incredible 4g run ICS or Jelly Bean? Consider HTC's poor support of non-tier 1 models. -> From an owner of an HTC One S that was promised an update to 4.2 which was recently axed: http://arstechnica.com/gadgets/2013/07/htc-pulls-the-plug-on-promised-android-4-2-update-for-a-year-old-phone/

Re: Good 2.1 set?

A very good sounding set. I own the 4.1 set (now discontinued) and they were incredibly unreliable (the satellite speakers were fine, but the amplifier which controlled them wasn't - inside the subwoofer). They now function as a 2.1 set because the rear speaker amps died. My main comment is that the...

Windows 7 for 20 dollars?

I was searching for a copy of Windows 7, and I came across this site: http://www.msoftkey.com/ They advertise selling a copy of Windows 7 on a USB key for as little as 20 dollars. Ultimate edition is 32 dollars. Anyone know if this is a legitimate website? I tried chatting with one of their represen...

anyone? I have a feeling, your PSU is the culprit here. The way I am understanding your statement - you think my PSU fried my motherboard, and switching to a different PSU (which I've done in order to try and bring it back from the dead) won't help now. That is something I hadn't considered. This w...

what am i doing wrong

Hi all and thanks for viewing and giving advice. I've been in the midst of an upgrade from an Athlon X2 to a core i7 860. During some mild overclocking of i7 860 (~3.5 GHz) I've now had two motherboards die on me and I can't figure out what went wrong. Both motherboards worked great for a few days a...

Where have you seen 5850s for $260? If they have dropped in price, then that's good news, as the 5830 may drop in at a lower price. But I haven't seen them for under $289.

HL2:E2 and Portal were part of the Orange Box, so that might explain some of that. People could have bought that box set and not gotten all the way to Episode 2 in HL2 or just gotten it for TF2. I played Portal all the way through but never touched HL2:E2, mostly just got it for TF2. When you look a...

In addition, that monthly subscription includes 5 downloads. Those downloads are DRM free and 256kbps mp3's....

A slightly different question: Does the upgrade media allow you to do hardware upgrades? I'm looking at doing a complete hardware upgrade of my current machine around March or so of next year. I could wait to install Windows 7 until then, but would rather start using it now over WinXP. Does anyone k...
