Re: Clonning a PCIe NVMe SSD

As long as you don't use more than 500GB on the new drive, Acronis should have no trouble cloning back and forth (when you are practising going from small to larger, you may need to extend to fill all spaces, but may be just keeping the partition at 500GB makes things easier, let that go as over pro...

Re: How to replace a dying secondary drive?

Best case, Windows will conveniently forget that you had an E: after you remove the faulty drive, and re-assign the new drive with this "first available (again)" letter.

Worst case, do what meerkt suggested and re-assign E: to the new drive with diskmgmt.

No sweat.

How naive, young grasshopper. The opposite may very well be true where they sue a few more people to extort extract even more money to fund that development. And x86 is not dead. If such migration is to happen it is going to take a while. But it has been declared dead from the early 90s and on and i...

I miss Tech Report. I wish the owners would do something with it rather than just letting the site languish. If all they were going to do was simply sit on it, I'm not sure what their purpose was in purchasing it in the first place. They are doing something with it, which is to attract SEO bots. Th...

Assuming you are not a bot, welcome to the forums. :) (I only see a J7 Neo FWIW) For the microSD card, you can just format the card from the phone or take it out and format it with a computer. For the phone, you can do a factory reset. These are the instructions for the S7 but being Nougat it should...

The OP was confused that the SPD tab (which is in CPU-Z!) appeared to be telling you otherwise.

You could still say that if gaming is all you do then intel may still be the better buy but only for certain games and only if you need that 1% best performance.

For Gamers Nexus, only Red Dead Redemption is left. Once you add power/temps and value, the thumping is pretty comprehensive.

If only TR was still alive, so I could see the decades long intel fanboy ship sink. You can see that everywhere, such as LTT . And it is not exactly fanboyism at work here. Intel did objectively have the better chips over the last decade while AMD was busy trying to survive on underwhelming product...

There was one surprise...one brand (Ankar?) stated "do not run external hard drives on their powered hubs". Even tho the listed power for the hub was ample for an external hard drive. Don't know what's going on there. Don't want to burn anything out. Mechanical HDDs can draw several times...

Is the dock fast enough? I consider eSATA/USB3 a minimum nowadays. But being removable allow you to park the drive before powering off.

Yep, the new RDNA2 cards have put a light under Nvidia's chair. AMD is finally back at the high-end portions of the gaming market and has been absent here since Hawaii a.k.a 290X. The biggest losers are scalpers hoarding up limited stocks who now have to move their stuff back at cost or at a loss (...

You don't even have to unplug the network. The option is there in the OOBE to create/use a local account instead of using a Microsoft account. Not in the latest installs. https://www.ghacks.net/2019/09/30/report-microsoft-makes-it-difficult-to-create-local-accounts-in-windows-10 Plus unplugging is ...

To each their own I suppose. On certain "disc media" I actually started to capture ISO/MDS and just virtual mount them. So all I need is just gobs of HDD space (and that in theory will go to my NAS/FileServer). It also helps that I trust optical discs far more than I do hard drives for lon...

Could've skipped any/all of the above and used external docks and/or a USB optical instead, but as I noted previously, putting 'em in bays reduces cable clutter.

Not everyone needs 2 hot swap bays?
