Re: I need a robocall killer for iOS

I decided to try out Robokiller. That one makes you sign up and authorize payment first, but payment doesn't happen until after the trial period.

We'll see.

Re: I need a robocall killer for iOS

Nomorobo 19.99/year RoboKiller 24.99/year TrueCaller Free (worth a shot, but then again it's free and you're giving them access to all your calls and contacts so maybe read the TOS thoroughly) Thanks! When I created this thread, I didn't know there was one called RoboKiller! It sounds kind of funny...

Re: I need a robocall killer for iOS

Unless I’m expecting a call from a number not on my contact list (like a workman scheduled that day, for example) I don’t pick up numbers I don’t recognize. I get several spam calls per day, but never pick them up. If it’s a legit caller I miss, they’ll leave a message. Yeah...that doesn't help. Ig...

derFunkenstein: Yep, that's the Verizon solution that costs $3 per month, or $36 per year. I hate subscriptions, but this will probably come down to a coin flip between this one and the others I listed above, unless somebody comes up with a good alternative. I need a robocall killer for iOS

The calls are becoming intolerable. Spoofed to my area code and prefix too. I'd rather not pay, but it looks like I may need to, in order to get the ability to whitelist my contacts list. For t his, most are only a couple bucks per month. ⋅ For iOS, Nomorobo is $2 per month. My VOIP servic...

Re: DYMT: Imi's Legacy

Anytime you take your car in to somebody but yourself for AC work, it always costs between $1,000 and $1,500. I keep my cars for a long time, so I've come to expect that once or twice for any car that I own. And I'll pay it too, because I hate working on cars. Yeah, I hate it THAT much. And if that'...

Re: Adding a NAS for backups only

Thank you Captain Ned; I'm reviewing that now. Duct Tape Dude: Thank you, but that's still more than I want to do at this time. I need a pre-packaged solution that only requires that I add the drives, follow some brief configuration steps, and then set up some new Macrium backups to point to the new...

Re: Adding a NAS for backups only

I assume he meant <$300 for the bare NAS (without the drive). Going with a 12TB capacity drive does indeed drive $/GB up though, since it's a "flagship" capacity drive that comes with a premium price tag. Starting with a single drive also means you're vulnerable to losing the entire NAS d...

Re: Adding a NAS for backups only

I thought I was clear, but just to be specific: <$300 was for bare NAS only. I'll buy the drive(s) separately. And yes, I might get a 10 TB drive (or 2) instead of a 12. The key for me (and the reason I only mentioned 12 TB drives) was to avoid wasting time considering any devices that could not acc...

Adding a NAS for backups only

Hello: I'd like to add a diskless NAS for onsite backups only. I'd like to keep the price under $300, but will go higher if it really makes sense. I'm also shopping now for a 12TB hard drive, and would like to get one that is likely to still be around in 3-4 months so I can add a second one for mirr...

Re: What shows are you recently watching?

Watching old Kung Fu episodes now. There was some really good acting in that series, particularly in the 2nd season where I am right now. Also, to keep me from taking life too seriously (and for some much needed contrast), The Dukes of Hazzard. Hey, it's not "reality TV", so don't judge! A...

I use Corel software so that I don't have to pay a subscription to Adobe. I don't upgrade every year. I got rid of DSL, phone, and satellite several years ago (my threads are still here someplace in the forum). I was paying $60 for DSL, I think about $30 or $50 for copper phone (not including long d...

Re: You can buy ANYTHING with a subscription now...

I didn't know that Universal movies were only $5 before 7 pm. For anybody who has to drive on I-4 to get there during rush hour (then park, then walk), however, Universal would almost have to PAY YOU for taking the risk.  And where is there a $1.75 movie theater? Yep, Prime is indeed a s...

I don't know about weird. I have a couple things that are not safe to divulge that I would like for a subscription to exist. You can buy ANYTHING with a subscription now...

It is my long-standing contention that subscriptions are one of the seven signs. Okay, maybe not THAT, but I submit to you that it's getting kind of weird. And yet it must be working, because more and more companies are doing it. Adobe with Creative Cloud, for example. East West's "Cloud Compos...

I don't think anyone has said this explicitly, but viewing weight loss as something that's always a good thing is a pet peeve of mine. I'm just as heavy now as I ever have been, but I'm not at all out of shape. Two completely different things. I would like to lose some fat and gain some muscle. Tha...

A couple items... Variety : Assuming the number of daily meals is 3, most humans can eat pretty much the same things each day for 2 meals. But in order to stay on any change of diet, we need variety in at least 1 meal. Whether that is breakfast, lunch, or dinner, you'll be more successful if you mix...

In my universe, we have CompUSA, Radio Shack, and Circuit City stores. But I think Circuit City is on its way out, because they just started playing a Cars song in their television advertisements. I think they're trying to make people forget that their prices are too high and they put way too much p...

Would it be worthwhile to wait for the eighth generation i7 to become available? I'm thinking yes, because this opens up options for more cores. That's available now in Sager models, but not yet in Eurocom (not as of about a week ago, anyway). I'm also hoping that manufacturers such as Sager and Eur...

With maybe one 1TB exception somewhere, I only use hard drives now for backups. Active data, OS, and applications are only on SSDs now. I do a restore of something here or there about once every 18 months or so. Given this, if a spinning hard drive is going to fail, it's most likely going to do that...

Classic Shell itself works in Win 10 and fixes Windows Explorer too. Windows 10 is the best, most reliable version of Windows to date. At home, I use classic shell. At work, I don't. It's pretty much a non-issue anymore. Crashes are very few. I don't view security and privacy concerns to be major exposures. But beyond that, major corporations are forcing upgrades amo...
