Re: Who is left

It's funny, there's an article on the front page telling us how to build robust communities. I think there should be some demonstrable evidence that you know what you're talking about when you write an article like that. :-? In other news: I am still working, but my company has a lot fewer people th...

Also salt was used as a fertilizer in SMALL AMOUNTS. If you use too much you kill the plants. If the land was barren from over use but still in decent shape you could help the land. (My mom studies the bible and ancient history a lot.) I did read something like that, but I have a hard time acceptin...

I have been wanting to get back into folding, but I'm waiting for the F@H client to receive optimizations for the RTX 3080 (or whatever) is, well if any were available. I still have a couple of old GTX 980s, that I want to replace with a couple of 3080 cards. But 3080s have a huge supply problem rig...

This thread slightly confuses me. DAZ 3D is the company name, folks. Which product are we talking about? That's my confusion. There's DAZ Studio, Cararra, Bryce, Hexagon, etcetera. Are you modeling your own assets with Hexagon, Blender (not from DAZ), or the like? What kind of rendering are you doi...

My payment still being pulled!

So my old donation/payment through Stripe actually got pulled again this month. There's no more gerbil donation thing; there's no more gold/silver memberships, and only a few articles on the home page are worth paying for. All of those things we were told we'd get for our donation. Does my donation ...

Hi and happy new year, to all. Yes, the latter. I didn't think much about that distinction. That wouldn't seem to be fair, but maybe making it publicly available AFTER the original source is no longer available is fine? It'll depend on the whims of the rights owner(s), if any. Assuming someone else ...

I bought the laptop from HID Evolution. So I called them, and their support person guided me through the steps to reset the CMOS. Laptop's RTX 2080 not working

I have an Alienware Area 51M gaming laptop. The discrete RTX 2080 isn't showing up in device manager; well it shows up as disconnected. Right now the laptop is usable via the built-in Intel UHD 630, but it can't really game or anything. And Geforce Experience won't install the latest driver for the ...

Okay, it was an hour ago. Supertramp, Crime of the Century. That band could really jam! And why does nobody actually use stereo anymore? So many old songs have a cymbal in one ear, snare in another. Or a guitar solo is about 75% in this ear or that ear. And yet the mix isn't hurt by that; it's made ...

I hate subscriptions too, but this time around, I had to go with Office 365. HUP has limitations and is technically only available for a single computer.

Even two computers was enough to justify going the 365 route, and I don't use the mail or one drive features.

Okay, if it was changed in March, that kind of fits. I'll have to reconsider my plans w/Dropbox. At least I have a NAS now which I didn't have when I started an account w/Dropbox. And I got free use from it for what...the last 10 years or so? Not bad. :)

I mentioned this in one or more of my posts in the "EV to buy or not to buy" thread, and I've been thinking a lot about it. Spinning this off to keep the conversation more organized. You may recall that my opinion in that thread is that mass transit is not safe enough for me to use it. I a...
