Re: Need ideas for my next game...

Wow, I had no idea that there were so many other turn-based fans out there. That's awesome! No decisions just yet. The evil red triangle with an "!" inside it showed up on my dashboard yesterday, so I'm sitting in a waiting room. I want to see how much it will take to fix my car before I s...

Re: Was this a good deal, or did I make a mistake?

I never heard of Stagelight, but any time you can travel without dongles and external hard drives, that's a good thing in my book. I despise the Cubase dongle, but it's not the only one I have, so I have 3 of them all lashed together and plugged into a little Targus 4-port passive USB hub. But still...

Re: Need ideas for my next game...

I'll add Duskers to the list. Point taken on Panzer. I will evaluate! The short list right now I think is Stellaris, Cities:Skylines, Homeworld Remastered, and I'll probably get Pharaoh+Cleopatra because it's less than $10 plus I never got to play the Cleopatra add-on. Wow, some of these bundles are...

Need ideas for my next game...

Hello! I'm crazy about strategy games, both turn-based and RTS. More the former and less the latter. I've been playing Civilizations VI and Galactic Civilizations III about equally and I enjoy them both. Questions: 1 - I'm looking for two or three game suggestions in each genre (Turn Based and Real ...

Re: So this is where I'm spending the rest of my time in college.

At one time I wanted to attend classes at Full Sail. I wanted to learn audio engineering, recording, mixing, and mastering, but I didn't want to go for a degree-track. I already have bachelors and masters degrees in IT, and that's my day gig. I wasn't looking for a career track or even a certificate...

Valencia is in direct competition with Full Sail University, which is almost right around the corner. Full Sail also has an IT program now! I hear UCF (University of Central Florida) also has a nice media program (and of course IT, too).

Yep, it's MalwareBytes complaining. Thinks the site is dodgy.

I would just get a wall-mounted wire shelf rack and wall-mount a multi-socket power extension next to it, then clip the charger cables in place with zip-ties. http://www.homedepot.com/catalog/productImages/1000/8d/8dd0cff0-5f6f-4ddd-84e4-bdd80ce623e4_1000.jpg If a battery does vent/explode, the wir...

Foam rubber mattress thrown on the campfire (the fire IS the trash disposal system at this place). When the accumulated petroleum residues liquefied and ignited, the radiant heat was enough to ignite wood 15 feet away from the flames. The shed to the right of that picture is full of other flammable...

Re: Favorite digital signature signing method?

I love signing things with real ink. Well, except for checks, that is. But if I have to sign something digitally, I don't really use certificates yet; I"m kind of old-school. Instead, I fetch the document from email with my iPad and export to Goodnotes. Next, I use Goodnotes to rename the docum...

Re: Testing Sync w/Windows 10 and a MyBook NAS

Yep, I considered automating Robocopy, or possibly Freefilesync, which is what I use right now to syncronize my download folders across both PCs. The only concern I have is that anything I cobble together will require development time (configuring, strategizing, scripting, and/or scheduling). Throw ...

Re: Think you're going to repurpose that USB HDD? Think again

Manufacturers do these cost saving measures not to lower final cost of the product, but to increase profits... Of course they do. Increasing efficiencies when all else stays the same; well that's the name of the game. But at times, they can lower prices somewhat. That can increase purchases. We see...

Re: Testing Sync w/Windows 10 and a MyBook NAS

I've found one one possible path. It has some pros and cons. You'll see below that I probably won't take it, but it was an interesting learning opportunity, so here you go... 1. On each computer, map the network drive to a drive letter (Not really required; this is for convenience of finding it fast...

Re: Think you're going to repurpose that USB HDD? Think again

I didn't know the manufacturers were doing this, but I too am not surprised. It's funny too, because the cheaper manufacturing costs of doing it this way are not reflected in the price to the consumer. I've been shopping for drives this weekend, and I see that external drives with their included enc...

Testing Sync w/Windows 10 and a MyBook NAS

Hello: This thread is a spin-off of my NAS thread . I decided to spin it off and start this one in the Windows subforum because even though it's storage and network related, what I really need is to learn how to do all this in Windows 10 Pro. At this time, I don't need these instructions for Mac or ...

You have to be discerning with it. I'll tell you though, when it comes to finding out the TRUTH about some major news event, it's the Daily Mail that will report it, especially for news that happens in the US. Meanwhile, the NY Times is burying the key facts, MSNBC is making up their own facts to ma...

I don't think I'll have enough clearance for a cabinet (not one with a working door, anyway), but I might try to affix a metal plate and use that as a backing. I think I'll also use a power tap with a master shutoff switch; that way I can positively shut off the power to all chargers with one rocker...

Okay, point taken. But then why do these chargers all have eye holes for mounting, and why do they all have short power cords? It's nearly impossible to have them far from a wall anyway. And who has their battery chargers in the middle of a room? Here are some links showing pretty much what I want t...
